The future is a dangerous place

Commander Joe Pikeman is on a mission he didn’t ask for…and wasn’t ordered on.

Then again, he isn’t in the mood to sit back while Fairfax takes over the galaxy, either.

Fairfax’s power stretches across the stars, and he’s calling in all his favors. From sparking a bot rebellion to engineering godlike monsters to crush his enemies, he seems determined to ruin Joe’s day.

But he made one mistake: he screwed with Joe’s family. And as messed up as they are, that simply isn’t something Joe can allow.

One problem

There is a problem with chapter 46, it cuts off early into chapter 47. It isnt hard to infer what happens after the cut, but it is jarring. Other than that I loved this book. Even more than the first book. It was everything I wanted and more for the second book.

Amazing

This is an amazing story, I did not see that the ‘bad guy’ was building an army, or that they did the matrix reboot idea. Worth the listen.

Lost another night's sleep over a good book

It became clear after about half way through this book that Scott Bartlett had intentionally designed the MC, Joe, in book 1 to be somewhat of a roguish character who didn't elicit much admiration from his charges nor the listener, For that matter, Book 2 takes Joe to the emotional next level through various encounters that force him to confront his own mistakes, biases and pridefulness.

This book also starts the melding of Joe, the meat sack and Joe the the psychotic digital imprint and even touches a bit on the litRPG sub-genre when he's fighting with a team in the sub-verse and ends up leveling up. Scott interjects an ample amount of sarcasm to keep the tone, while not jocular, humorous to the point of enjoyment.

Mark Boyett's performance is stellar (pun intended).

On to Book 3.

Fabtastic

another superb book by Scott Bartlett.

Full of action, adventure even a little mysticism with the knight. Couldn't stop listening to it making me late for work sometime but hey, it's too good to tune off

This story is a blast

The second book in the series was even more entertaining than the first. While there were a few predictable tropes, they really just amplified the entertainment value. I look forward to the conclusion in book 3.

A rip roaring tale

**** SPOILER ALERT **** In "Unsung Armada: After The Galaxy, Book 2" Bartlett delivers a rip roaring space opera adventure. The author continues weaving a fine tapestry of world-building and character development. Particularly Joe "The Butcher" Pikeman and the mysterious "Master" Shivan ghost. There's plenty of twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Joe and crew venture into a new sector and Joe faces betrayal and intrigue. I "read" this book via Audible and highly recommend it to my fellow readers in whichever format that you prefer. I spoke of the author and the story, now let me speak about the talent that brought the tale to life, Mark Boyett. Mr. Boyett's voicing is very good are the audio production values in the book. In the interest of transparency, I was given a review copy of this book and I am voluntarily sharing this review. It is my own honest opinion.
