About this listen

On a blustery San Francisco day, six strangers take shelter inside a popular neighborhood restaurant - never imagining they have only minutes left to live. The gunman is merciless, and the ensuing carnage is the worst the city has witnessed in decades. It is a random act of violence no one could have foreseen. Unless it wasn’t random at all.…

Pregnant with her first child, homicide lieutenant Jane Candiotti is under strict doctor’s orders to take it easy. But when a mass shooting claims the life of her teenage nephew, all bets are off. Jane will go to any lengths to bring down the monster who did this - even enlisting the help of a dangerous ex-con. And when she uncovers a chilling connection between the shooting and a decades-old murder case, she knows she cannot stop until the final horrifying piece of the puzzle falls into place.

What made the experience of listening to Unthinkable the most enjoyable?

good plot, fast pace, and human emotions and moral dilemma are covered.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kenny as always in this series. When he is sleeping with the baby is a great mind picture.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I am Ms Dawe's most devoted fan. Her male voices are great and she brings out the best in a male character. Her Nora Roberts MacGregor series and Tiffany Snow Kathleen Turner are so wonderful to help you enjoy your listen time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, when we found out what the little boy, Brad, had gone through!

This has a very good story to it! The only reason I gave it a four star is because in the beginning it tells us who the person is and how they die. They don’t go into details about how that person felt or anything leading up to it. It also does this at the end. She tells us how everyone ended up but no explanation.

Great Story!!!

I haven’t been into cops n’ robbers since the 90s when I read a lot of James Patterson. Chose this on a whim and found it engaging. The narration was a little distracting, meaning I “noticed” the narration throughout, but I’m certain I’ll read another book of this collection. And I should add it’s a great deal to select a free book with kindle unlimited that includes audio narration at no additional charge.

I did enjoy this book

first I want to say that the reader is very monotone. I do not enjoy listening to this particular reader. as a police officer some of that is plausible. The language is colorful and that part is truthful. again the reason story was just ok to me was simply the narrator.

Good story line

Story was ok and narrator was ok until she dragged ends of sentences. Perhaps it was her way of distinguishing between the narrative and the dialogue.

On the edge

I really enjoyed this series and hated to see it end. There were great story lines with many twists. Was hoping for more but since the last one was written in 2013, I guess this one is truly the end. 😢

Loved this series

Clyde Phillips writes excellent crime thrillers, but poor narration by Angela Dawe detracts from superb thrillers. This series can be read in any order.

Another excellent Condiotti and Marks thriller

What did you love best about Unthinkable?

The author hit it on the nail with a combination of suspense and readers curiosity.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The story made me loose a nights sleep, read through the night.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

At first I did not care for the narrators voice but as she started doing the different caracthers I appreciated it more.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It is not your average detective novel.. far deeper and more gripping.

Any additional comments?

A must read! Even for readers that normally skip the genre. Can't wait to read/listen to the others in the series!
