About this listen

Sage Mayson had Kimberly Cullen once, and the memory of that brief encounter has tortured him since the moment he pushed her away. He should have followed his gut, but he didn’t, and now he’s left watching the woman he wants more than anything from afar.

Kimberly vowed to protect her heart from Sage, but when her sister is murdered and her world starts to fall apart, he’s the one person she finds herself leaning on.

Getting a second chance is something Sage knows is rare. He’s not going to squander the one he’s been given, and he won’t take no for an answer when it comes to making Kim his.

But what Sage doesn’t know is Kim has a secret that could leave them both devastated and heartbroken.

the boom happened for him but he messed it up

Sage and Kim had that destined meeting. They clicked on so many levels at their first meeting. Then in one selfish moment it was all erased. Kim picked up and moved on with her life. She as not going to look back. Sage on the other hand finds out that he made the biggest mistake of his life. How will he be able to make things right with the one woman that was meant for him.

I enjoyed their journey. The ups and the downs. The ins and outs of birth family, found family, and adopted family. Sage and Kim both had somethings to work through. The journey was not easy but it was what was needed for them to move forward with their HEA together. Through sickness will be the test. Kim was already looking for the worst to happen.

I did enjoy the narration from Zachary and Thurlow. I did not like that the audio had repetition issues.

Love those Mayson Men!

The Boom! That's what hits Sage as soon as he stops to help Kim change her tire. I have to say, he had me as soon as he was walking her through the steps of this task, I love that he immediately wanted to help her learn an important lesson. The chemistry is instant lands them for a night filled with passion. Just as soon as the two think life can't get better, things change. Kim's twin sister comes into the picture and through misunderstandings, fear and hurt feelings, the two are separated. Mayson men have a way about them that is hard to forget and get over, and Sage is no exception. With his warmth and understanding, Kim is continually drawn to him, but will their relationship withstand her secrets? Aurora Rose Reynolds is able to portray this family with incredible love, tenderness, and a fierce protectiveness that sucks you in and makes you root for the couple. I love how she is able to intertwine the characters we have gotten to know so well into each story, giving us a firm foundation of family. It really endears the story even more.

The narration of this book is not as good as previous, but did give a performance that was enjoyable. In my opinion, Zachary Michael does have a good voice, but not as commanding as the alpha Mayson men need. Thurlow Holmes has the voice of a new adult woman, though at times, I felt like her portrayal was forced, not comfortable. With the strength of the storyline though, the narration was acceptable and the book enjoyable.

Female lead annoying

The narrators did a fine job to me. The female lead was so annoying. She would hide things or lie about things and it never made sense why she would, saying she was protecting. Protecting herself from what... I have no idea. Also, her little temper tantrums about nothing were also annoying. I did a lot of fast-forwarding through this book.

Enjoy Ms. Reynolds’ romances.

Love almost all Ms. Reynolds’ books. Male narration was ok, but could have been bolder. Female was also ok, but a couple of times was OTT screechy. But I would still give them a 4 star overall rating, because I’ve listened to this series several times. A great
spicy listen with an HEA escape.

Great story

This book was so different in all the best ways. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of alpha male steamy scenes. The rest of the book was filled with the sweetness of Sage. That made for the perfect mix. Definitely add those to your TBR.

I hate the moms

I swear the mothers of all the kids need to be killed off. they act like a wedding is the most important thing in the world and seriously act like it's their wedding. his mom calls her mom to so she can show her venues doesn't even ask the bride what she wants for her own wedding. like sweet jesus.

Does love really conquer all?

I was really looking forward to this book, but must admit that I was a little bit let down. Sage rescues a damsel in distress on the side of the road. He feels an instant 'pull' to Kimberly and spends his day helping her change her flat tire, then get it repaired, then repairing a bookcase for her. During the short time together that day, both parties feel the 'boom' and end up spending the night together. However, after promising to take Kim out the next night, she gets radio silence from Sage. While she is pondering this strange change in Sage, her twin sister shows up, grabs her stuff and basically tells Kim to go to he!!. See, Kim has kidney disease and only discovered that she was adopted when she was diagnosed. She learned that her birth mother gave her up for adoption but raised her twin sister. When Kim reached out to her sister, her twin believed that she did so only because she needed something. Now it appears that her sister has run off. Later on that day, Kim runs into Sage and he is just hateful and says nasty things to her. Kim realizes that her twin did something and tries to explain but Sage doesn't give her the chance. Fast forward a couple of months and Sage acknowledges that he's been an @$$ but Kim won't talk to him. Then comes the kicker...Kim's sister is murdered. Here comes Sage to the rescue. Will Kim truly forgive Sage? Will Sage help to find the sister's killer? Is Kim safe? Alls well that ends well and we have an HEA.

Voice of Ellie is intolerable

Ellie’s voice is really a mean cackle. Knowing Ellie from a previous book, I know what Ellie’s character is like and couldn’t stand her cackling, cigarette voice in this book. Took the book down a couple of notches. Had to fast forward her parts.
