About this listen

A couple forced to work together trade their business barbs to engage in more pleasurable activities in #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts’ From This Day.

To hotel manager B. J. Clark, the Lakeside Inn is more than just a historic New England landmark, it’s a place both staff and guests call home. So when wealthy hotelier Taylor Reynolds decides to add it to his global hospitality empire with plans to modernize its charm and character, B. J. prepares herself to resist this hostile takeover. But she didn’t prepare for their heated discussions to take place behind closed doors where more passionate desires would arise.

I usually like Nora Roberts books but this time I really had a difficult time listening to a boss hitting on an employee. I know this book was written before Me Too movement happened so I understand how it can be considered romance but nowadays, I would rather see the man given what for because he came onto an employee.

Makes me think of “Me Too”

It was a nice romantic story the narrator did a great job And the characters were great. 2 things...1) it wasn't believable how much a lone time they had at the resort. Without giving too much away. 2) I didn't like how the character was grabbing her arm so often. He would be out the door in the first grab with me, it doesn't matter how good-looking he was.

Have to say

There was no back story of the characters. The female lead was immature and mean. The narration was great overall this book sucked

Not up to par

I never did look how long ago this book was written, but I sure hope it was a long time ago and Nora Roberts does not condone this type of behavior.

The blatant sexual harassment

This book was written sometime during the 80’s. This was obviously before legislation to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. The behavior of the hotel owner toward the female hotel manager was reprehensible!

The are so many cringe worthy scenes that leave the reader with a very icky feeling stomach. The male protagonist would be arrested for sexual assault today and would definitely spend time behind bars.

And the idea that the hotel manager would fall in love with this owner is ridiculous. She’d have to be nuts and stupid for that to happen.

Skip this one even if you love Nora Roberts

I was missing Therese Plummer, so I listened to this. She’s always amazing! This story though… What the heck? Anger issues, grabbing her arms, harassing her and saying he doesn’t respect rules and boundaries.

Ummmm no thank you.

What the sexual harassment????

The first few chapters were great but then I quickly despised the character Taylor. The book became exceedingly uncomfortable to listen too. Who wants to hear a man say “I will have you”, “You will do what I say”.

Odd book
