About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author T.M. Frazier, Up in Smoke is a standalone. You do not have to hear the rest of the books in the King series to enjoy Smoke's story.

I'm a man without a conscience. I deal in murder and mayhem. I'm the best at what I do. Frankie Helburn is supposed to be an easy job. A means to flush her father out of hiding. Simple.

Except there isn't anything simple about Frankie or the secrets she's keeping. She's stubborn as hell and the sexiest god damn thing I have ever seen, sending dark, dirty animalistic desire coursing through my veins. She's cocaine with legs.

A f--king addiction that makes me question things I've never questioned before. Want things I've never wanted before. I might have her, but she isn't mine to keep. If her father doesn't show his face, she will be mine. To kill.

Painful Narration

I loved this story as well as the rest of the books in the series but the female narrator in this story was TERRIBLE. It was hard to finish

The King Series

These books do not diaappoint. Never a dull moment but they do stick together better than most blood family would. worth a credit. Smoke is heard about throughout the series. Finally getting to his story. Who is next....Nine?

ugh

I’m not one to leave reviews but this one seemed warranted. As always the story line & characters were phenomenal. Troy Duran did a superb job... But Lucy Rivers left A LOT to be desired. The only reason I continued listening was for the story but it was a bit painful and cringey with Lucy’s narration roughly 80% of the time. This one isn’t worth missing out on but be prepared for your patience to run a tad thin with her.

Distracted by female narrator.

The story is great, as is Troy Duran.

However, Lucy Rivers was bad enough it pulled me out of the story A LOT! When she’s saying dialogue for men she sounds like an eight year old sarcastically mimicking her older brother. And she has a really bad habit of using a cadence that makes her sound like she’s trying to be a stereotypical ancient witch. She’s just really bad in my opinion.

Great story no cliffhanger!

Love the story line. Female and male characters were great. The female narrator was good but not great. Male character was greater...reminds me slightly of Sebastian York.

I love the brevity

The story moves so quickly and I love the pacing. So many take FOREVER to explain minute details nobody cares about. This book wasted no breath on anything that didnt matter. It poured into the storyline with a great pace. I also loved both narrators. Lucy Rivers gave life to ALL the characters she voiced. I also love anything Troy Duran narrates. I want him to read me the phonebook. Slowly.

The female narrator is HORRIBLE (as you've heard)

Not only does she tell the story like she's reading to a school classroom, Lucy Rivers is the absolute WORST when reciting the male narratives, my goodness it's enough to ruin the whole vibe. I just wanted to listen to this story for so long and the male narrator almost makes up for Lucy Rivers ridiculous interpretations of Smoke. Thankfully I like the story, so it makes it barible, just not enough to give this a re-read. Worst of all Lucy Rivers is also narrating for the next book Nine, total bummer, I don't think I can stomach her again. Even though she's horrible, the other narrators in the King series are nothing short of epic, check out those on audio if you haven't done so already.

Liked the story disappointed with female narration

The story was decent but the female narrator when doing other voices slowed way down and made every voice sound like a dim witted idiot. Regardless of the scene, scary, intense, sexy or sincere. I nearly quit the story several times just because of it.

Narration Is Good

I'm glad I did not listen to the reviews about the narration. Lucy Rivers male voices were not great. But I have heard FAR WORSE overall narration.
