About this listen

From the best-selling author of the Supervillainy Saga

It's been a rough year for Peter Stone.

Vampires are not meant to be quarantined, and most of the nation is under lockdown. It has been extra hard in the city of New Detroit, which depends on tourism not only for its economy but its blood supply. With his creator kidnapped, mother dead, and finding himself once more exiled to the fringes of their society, Peter's ready to call it quits. That's when he receives a mysterious message from a long-dead friend who tells him that his problems are just beginning.

A mysterious new player in town wants to recruit Peter to help form a supernatural alliance against the oppressive new voivode and his human-hunter allies. Unfortunately, Hell itself has sent an assassin to erase our antihero, and even a new set of allies may not be enough to protect him.

Enjoy Peter's final exciting adventure!

Part of the United States of Monsters universe with the Bright Falls Mysteries, Psycho Killers in Love, Morgan Detective Agency, and The Red Room.

All Good Things Must End

Coronavirus has proven to be severe pain for the world of vampires. Without tourism, and a steady blood source the vampire world is undergoing a massive change. Vampire Peter Stone is recruited to help save the world from evil yet once again along with some friends like Jane, Weredeer. The evil they face leaves Peter dancing the watusi around death.

CT Phipps never disappoints. There is lots of action and wordplay. As a crafter of words, Phipps can turn a pun, and reference pop culture from the 80’s-90’s with ease. His plot writing is smooth as are the plot twists. Phipps writes each character with depth folding them successfully into the story.

The narrator, Cary Hite gives a solid performance with ease. The puns and pop culture references flow smoothly and with the perfect delivery. I enjoyed his performance immensely as he captured the essence of each character. Each character has a unique voice that he delivers artfully.

Phipps does a great job of bringing the story of Peter Stone to a conclusion. CT Phipps is skilled at allowing his characters to grow and experience life – some of those experiences for us are enlightening and fun but not always for the characters! This is one of those books where the growth of a character is well done as well as integral to the storyline. Read the other books in this series if you can, but if not don’t worry. CT Phipps has you covered and gives you enough background to keep you engrossed in the book.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was clear and well produced.

Good book

CT Phipps writes with a snarky, funny style all his own. This is another example of classic Phipps. I like his crossover novels too. The narrator is good .

fangtastic end to a fun series

I've enjoyed this series quite a bit - it feels like C.T. Phipps loves vampire stories as much as I do while also acknowledging just how absolutely ridiculous they are when you scratch even a little bit below the surface. As a vampire story I enjoyed it immensely, I also laughed at all the jokes about vampire stories, including the 4th wall ones at it's own expense.
Pulling in the pandemic worked really well, and helped cement the parallel between our reality and the book's. And I enjoyed the thought experiment of how a pandemic would impact the supernatural.
The United States of Monster books are getting more and more entwined - I don't think it's strictly necessary to have read the earlier works but some things might not make very much sense without them. And they're fantastic books, so really it's a win/win to go read them as well if you haven't.
This was a nice close to the trilogy without feeling too final. More like a season finale than a series finale. And with how the characters walk in and out of each others books, it feels more like goodbye for now to these characters than goodbye forever. Which I like. It's always fun to see who is going to pop up where in them.

my favorite series

if a series must come to an end, then this was the best way to end it. I hate that it has ended. there isn't anything about this series that I don't like except that it isn't longer.

I've really enjoyed this series.

Vampiraz4Life is the final book of this series, and I will miss Peter Stone (I’m really hoping he will make some appearances in some other series in the United States of Monsters universe). This was a fitting ending to the series, not to mention, I loved how the author included the pandemic in the story. It gave me a reason to laugh and smile about the crap we’ve been living through for the past two years.

This final story was filled with the shenanigans and pop culture I’ve come to expect from a Phipps book. I really enjoyed seeing so many of the characters from this series and others from crossover series. It was also a lot of fun to see how vampires deal with a pandemic reducing tourism (and blood supply). It was also great to see a hate group get what they deserve.

While the ending is bittersweet (I would love more Peter Stone stories), I had a great time with it. I look forward to what Phipps comes up with next.

Narration:
This is the first series where I’ve listened to Cary Hite, and I’ve really enjoyed his portrayal of Peter and his maker, Thoth. His voices for all the characters have been spot on. He has no issues with male or female voices. He’s also great to get the tone of the situation. I would gladly listen to him read another book/series.

Best. Vampire. Book. Ever.

So firstly, I was given a review copy in exchange for my review.

[No spoilers]

That being said this is my favorite vampire series ever and this third part of the trilogy was so long awaited. Was the book worth the wait? SUCK YES.

The characters we love are here and most get so many cool character moments that it makes me happy that I re read the series in anticipation! I remember all the call backs and loved how they interacted with the new characters.

The action was good as always. I love how the action led into the world building and even small character moments.

The weaving of the pandemic into the story was a stroke of genius and made sense for the world created.

All in all. This was a home run of a third book and I patiently wait for more from these characters in the United States of monsters.

I appreciate the world building

I'm a big fan that C.T. Phipps continues to intertwine characters from his other books into his novels. It makes the world's he crafts both bigger and smaller at the same time. I never get sick of the endless pop culture references. While listening to this story I wonder if I missed a storyline or a different novel for him to loop back to tell the tell. I don't think he has a book or series that I don't like. Thank you Charles, please keep expanding your artistry!

Absolutely Excellent

Going into the universe(s) that Phipps has created is still one of my all-time favorite things. There are crossovers and mentions of other characters galore. References to pop culture both old and new. And lots and lots of cheesy jokes. The amazing part is that those alone can sustain a book – but then Phipps throws in interesting and unique characters and plots causing each story to jump off of the pages.

Vampiraz4Life might be the weirdest title I’ve ever typed out for a review but it was an excellent book. Phipps brings these characters to life in ways that surprise me every time. This is the third book in the Straight Outta Fangton series and LOTS of things have happened in the first two books and even more happen in this one. I think this one had more “wtf” moments than any of the other two books so far (and I mean that in a good way).

Peter Stone is one of the many interesting characters that Phipps has created – but the “self-hating vampire” always shines/glitters (haha vampire reference) in these books making me fall in love with him more and more. Vampiraz4Life was no different – Stone was challenged a lot and had to make quite a few tough decisions that affected him and his friends.

Overall, I really enjoyed Vampiraz4Life. I blew through it. So fast that I think it was in the top two of my fastest finishes in Phipps’ collection. Add in the great narration by Cary Hite and you’ve got a wonderfully fun and funny book. Hite was able to grasp the snark and sarcastic tones of all the characters allowing for an already funny book to become funnier.
