About this listen

Allyssa is a young college student living her life to please her upper-crust family who want her to take business courses, join her father’s business, and marry the “right” man.

Allyssa loves animals and yearns to take courses that speak to her heart, but her family are deaf to her pleas and she is unable or unwilling to stand up to them.

Fiona is an older, more established woman; a veterinarian working towards the goal of starting her own large animal practice.

When a young woman arrives on her doorstep one night carrying a dog she may have fatally injured with her car, Fiona is thrown for a loop.

Vetted - a life that neither woman anticipated, but each learns they want desperately.

Will their families, the fates, and rustlers finally bring these women to their knees?

The only way they can survive is to stand strong together, but are they both ready to fight for what they want?

Only time will tell....

Great story

This book had me chuckling throughout the story. I am not sure if it was intentional or not but there were a lot of quirky details that cracked me up!

The Author, K’Anne Meinel has a very wicked sense of humor. The not so necessary add-on details cracked me up! They are unexpected and delightfully funny!

I really enjoyed Amy Duechler’s performance. She is always a great bet that whatever book she is doing is well performed!

Outstanding

This was a really good story about a lovely, odd, couple, who befriended each other strongly, and grew to love and depend on each other. And defended each other.

Some things were a bit irksome, like the old-fashioned, kind of sexist idea of virginity. And some were a bit hard to believe - like someone getting to the early 20’s and never having any sex, including touching themselves. But I suppose that something being rare is different from it being impossible.

Going along this journey with these two, first becoming friends, then an attraction growing, marrying, going on an incredible adventure together, standing back and watching the other grow, and defending the other when necessary, it was just lovely.

Good story with excellent narration

Vetted is much like 2 stories in 1. The first half of the book is about a young woman, Allyssa, who has grown up in a very aristocratic home that she doesn't fit in with very well. While in college, she discovers her love of animals as she begins working at a vet clinic and becomes close friends with the female doctor there, Fiona. When Fiona's grandparents die and will a ranch to her, she prepares to leave the clinic. But before she leaves, she asks Allyssa to marry her and become her partner at the ranch. The second half of the story is all about the new couple building a life together, starting a new large animal practice, building a house and making a home at the new ranch.

I wish there had been more inclusion of Allyssa's parents in the second half of the story. They just fade away for the most part after she leaves for the ranch. It seems that there should have been more on how they deal with their daughter marrying another woman and moving away from their traditions. There were sections of the book that seemed to drag a little and could have been tightened up a bit, but the narrator, Amy Deuchler, keeps the listener engaged throughout. Her voices for the different characters made it easy to follow who was speaking.

Overall the story was good. It isn't the typical FF story that I would listen to, but I found it very enjoyable.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the narrator in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

Excellent!

I loved Vetted. I have already read the whole series, but loved the audio. I love the idea of being brave and stepping outside your comfort zone. The stories of life on a ranch in Oregon keep you riveted. Amy Deuchler does an excellent job with the narration. I can't wait for the rest of the series on audio.

Enjoyable story

Story about a collage student that didn't have control of her social life, her academic choice, every was planned and decided by her mother and older sister. By chance she met a female vet that changes her life. I really like how they each have their skills, and help each other to grow and build their dreams and overcome obstacles together.

Who would of thought that a girl, who could not stand up to her parents and sister, stood up to criminals? This story is really good. Narration is great as well. I really liked it!!!

Great story, characters and terrific narration

“Vetted” was very enjoyable. I liked both MCs very much, the narration was terrific - very enthusiastic and high-energy!

University freshman MC Allyssa is from a rich family; her parents and older sister are pretentious and domineering, and her brother-one-law and his friends are pompous A-holes. It was difficult at times understanding how Allyssa put up with a life she hated. I admired her for not wanting or accepting the sorority, country club investment banker life that was mapped out for her. She found a few ways to make her own choices, a class here, a job there…all of which annoyed her family.

Allyssa meets MC Fiona (Faye) after accidentally hitting a dog that ran out in front of her car. Faye had her own difficult family life. After her father remarried, her step-mother preferred her children and the children from the second marriage to Faye, and Faye went to live with her grandparents.

Faye is attracted to Allyssa, but gets no reciprocal vibes. Allyssa knows she doesn’t like boys doing anymore than kissing her, but hasn’t ever considered women as an alternative. But our MCs become great friends despite their 10year or so age-gap, and when tragedy strikes and Faye must leave Denver for Oregon, Allyssa can’t imagine losing her best friend. So, naturally, Faye suggests they marry and become partners in a large animal veterinary practice. Stunned to find Faye “likes” her, Allyssa accepts on the spot. Errr, yeah…that part of the story sounded just a little forced to move the plot along.

I enjoyed the humor and interactions of Faye and Allyssa as they told Allyssa’s family, as they drove to Oregon and as the navigated their new relationship. Faye is shocked and excited to learn Allyssa is a virgin who has never even masturbated. Yet, for her part, Allyssa is no pillow princess. When Faye is careful to not pressure her to, err…perform, Allyssa admits that “I kinda want to!”

There are lots of details provided as they change Allyssa’s name, open bank accounts, get electric power, telephone service etc etc at their Oregon property. It’s enjoyable to spend time with them as they slow burn their way into romance and love.

The small town includes nice people and homophobes, and there are several adventurous moments with armed rustlers.

One amusing thing is the frequent use of phrases such as “the older woman”, “the younger woman”, “the blonde woman”, “the brunette woman”, “the taller woman”, and “the shorter woman”. It really reminded me of “The Protecter of the Realm” by Gun Brooke, where similar phrases frequently made me laugh.

I really enjoyed “Vetted”. There are sequels and prequels available. Highly recommended with 5* for the story, the characters and the narration!
