I love Finn and Mary. They are the Batman and Robin of the assassin world (if Batman and Robin knocked boots.) This listen starts right where book four ended but with enough recap that if you missed any prior books. you are still in the thick of things. The Russians are still doing bad things and with a nod towards current events, Finn and Mary set out to figure out what's going on.
I love Bosco's narration! His Finn is menacing and funny which is awesome since the story is told from Finn's POV.
I have a wait for the next installment but it will totally be worth it!
I need book six!

This is the fifth book in the JR Finn Sailing Mystery series. In my opinion, this series needs to be read in order to really get into the story and characters. There is a lot of background information which is parceled out in each of the books leading up to this one - and while the author kindly provides quick summaries of some events or background, I think you will enjoy the series even more if you start with the first book - "Assassins and Liars." You won't regret it.
This series is fascinating. First, the two main characters, Finn and Mary are twisted, compelling and just train-wrecks from which you cannot look away. Second, each book in the series is full of planning - which provides a lot of insight into the characters and is just really interesting. Third, there's a lot of action - which is fun and exciting. But, what absolutely keeps me coming back is the relationship between Finn and Mary. In this book, I absolutely want to believe Finn knows how to access the situation and is doing the right thing in continuing to trust Mary - but... it is also very clear that Mary is a very adept liar. Even when Finn had Mary evaluated by a doctor, I thought in order for therapists/psychiatrists to come to their conclusions, they must believe what the patient is telling them is occurring in their thoughts/emotions, which brings me right back to Mary is a very adept liar. I love that this precarious relationship leaves me on pins and needles which helps create the very enjoyable thrill ride that this series provides. Highly recommend.
When I am ready to listen to this book, I set aside the time to listen to it in one go - first, because I want everything to be fresh [I don't want to try to remember something I heard a day or two ago] and two because the narrator, David Bosco, is absolutely so wonderful in bringing this series to life in a way that I do not want to turn it off. What a wonderful pairing of author and narrator!
Great Series - Highly Recommend!

Finn also gets captured in this book by a beautiful bikini clad woman with razor blade fingernails! Sound interesting? It is!
The narrator, David Bosco, is perfect for this series.
Enjoyed the series!

What’s it about? The book starts a while after the previous events with something amiss about Mary. Finn is set to figure out if he should off her or keep her on the team. Finn encounters some problems of his own in the form of a femme fatale assassin. You get old characters coming into play, along with some new ones which really helped make this book fun and a good amount of action. There is a decent amount of strategy throughout, giving you a glimpse into their thinking, along with sailing terminology (don’t worry, it’s easy to understand and pick up). This is one of my favs of the series.
The narrator, David Bosco, did an incredible job yet again. I loved the character voices this time around- nice variety and you get a real sense of what he can do.
Overall I recommend, especially if you’ve been following the series.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: The two MC’s are assassins, so you get death, torture, weapons, and this one has some fairly detailed killing. Language used: sx8
