Publisher's summary

Being faced with an uncertain future is nothing new for Ari, not when you lived each day under the control of a demonic cult. But now Ari lives with a new enemy and one she can no longer run from...her past. But soon she will discover that even her past can cling to their future and hold it captive in the form of a curse.

So, with a murderer lurking in the shadows of their past and an Angel on the hunt, a killer is not the only thing out there for Vincent to find. For many lives are at stake, but only one of those has the power to break an immortal curse, and now Ari must decide: will she run from it and chance giving up her future, or will she run straight into the arms of a cursed...Angel King?

 Teasing

First off let me stop by saying Stephanie Hudson is amazing. In creating a world that really sucks you in. If you are listening to this book in Audible, it’s really important to pay attention to the dates. This isn’t one of her stories that takes you back to the past, but more of a story that takes one of the characters back in her memory. This book also is a cliffhanger. When book 2 comes out is yet to have a date……

I miss Rebecca Rainsford.

I loved the story. However, the first narrator got me hooked. I was so excited each time a new book came out. I don't think I'll buy anymore audio books not narrated by Ms. Rainsford. I'll just buy the book and read it myself.

good story, not good narration

like other reviews I read, the narration was not great. Her regular reading voice would have been fine for the main character's voice instead of the bizarre English, Scottish accent that she tried to do. It would be nice if narrators that are new to storylines would listen to previous narrators to see how they portrayed the characters voice. While I understand this is a different story line the characters are still the same and it's bizarre to hear Ari, who had a more sultry English accent in the Afterlife Saga then to go to this weird English, Scottish accent where the narrator can't choose how she wants her to sound. I ended up finishing the book via Kindle instead of Audible. I prefer other narrators to this one.

Will he find forever love?

It was a little frustrating initially and did it really end? It just seems like the story ended so abruptly & sad.

As always Ms. Hudson is amazing!

I have to disagree with some of the other reviews. I really enjoyed this story (I am in love with this whole world so I can see myself NOT enjoying any story in this universe), and I was very happy with the narrator as well! I like th fact that this narrator gives the cast of this book their own voice/identifies. While it does end not on a typical HEA...it is also a typical ending with Ms. Hudson's books. which is exciting because that let's everyone know it's not over and the adventure will continue. I highly suggest this book...and with that being said I ALSO suggest starting at the beginning (with th Afterlife Saga) so you get the most out of it.

Great fill in book for Afterlife saga!

I was a bit confused with timelines back and forth, but was a great book to help with unanswered questions of characters in Afterlife Saga. I absolutely love Stephanie Hudson's books. She has an amazingly brilliant crazy mind!!

Another Afterlife Success ...

However ... I think this book is more complicated in its characters and their journey and is a bit harder to follow. In all previous books in this series, the same extremely talented narrator was used, but in this book, a different narrator was a big mistake! It made an already more complicated story even harder to follow and understand. In that, I was majorly disappointed. I do hope this new direction in the storyline will open the door to a whole new series, as Stephanie Hudson's talent knows no bounds. I hold my breath awaiting more books based around the many unusual characters brought to us in the Afterlife series! I certainly recommend this book to those followers of this genre of books.

Audible

I had a hard time to visualizing this as Vicent’s voice. I felt like this would have been more like a Ruto or Sigurd. I’ll will just read the book.

Choose your narrator wisely!

What a waste to buy this book on audible! The story is great but the narrator is so bland and boring! A narrator is supposed to bring a story alive, not put you too sleep!

Story good, Narrator THE WORST!!!

The story line was good, it helped fill in some of the blanks about Ari. But SERIOUSLY, How does the narrator get picked? Do they not do ANY prior research on the author, or where the history of the Characters come from? Because this narrator's interpretation was the worst. She had Ari having an English accent in one breath, to an Irish and I think I even heard a Scottish brogue in some places. And for Vincent the narrator had him "singsong" in a high pitched voice. THE WORST Narrator Interpretation of characters I've ever heard.
Vincent should have had a Deep, Sultry, Sexy voice, but also strong, and soothing. Not the whiney singsong crap that was delivered. Ari couldn't decide what accent to use, and made everything sound so urgent. I Finally got through this book, but it was a chore to do so.
