About this listen

Two eccentric orphans bring together a grumpy viscount and the free-spirited heroine who steals his heart in the first novel in Eloisa James’s new Accidental Brides series, in which haughty aristocrats find themselves married to the wrong women.

He wants a nanny, not a bride…

Suddenly guardian to twins, Viscount Dominic Kelbourne is luckily betrothed to a suitable lady—until she elopes. With no time to woo, Dominic decides to marry his fiancée’s unconventional sister. Torie isn’t perfect, but their kisses are so passionate that society thinks he’s actually chosen her.

She wants to marry for love…

Torie has never been able to make sense of words on a page, so she has turned her talents to art. She longs for a man who values her as she is… but marries for the sake of the twins. She doubts Dominic is capable of love, let alone respect, but as their heated debates turn into something more, Torie begins to imagine a life as a wife, not a nanny.

But when the arrogant viscount finds that his viscountess has stolen his heart, he’ll have to give all he has to win her love.

I’ll listen to anything MJW - twins are the best part!

I don’t typically listen to Eloisa James b/c I can’t stand the other narrator she uses. But when I saw MJW name as the narrator I downloaded it instantly! What an enchanting story! The twins are adorable and such a fun dimension and storyline. Both MMC and MFC are flawed and lovable and their banter kept me engaged. Being dyslexic myself, I wish the author would have gone into a little more details about FMCs illiteracy. I thought she just needed spectacles throughout the whole novel until the authors note at the end. I also thought there was an opportunity to dive further into the sister and her possibly murderous husband. But all in all I found the story light and amusing and I look forward to the next books in the series pending a tolerable narrator.

story was predictable and boring in places

Mary Jane Wells was fantastic as always but the story droned on and was very predictable. The young characters were great but i didn’t like the hero very much. just got boring after awhile.

The narrator

Nothing. I love the sound of her voice. She can make the most tiresome books interesting

How difficult life must have been with a disability no one understood.

I didn't like the way she was written off as Less Than because of her dyslexia. Victoria learned how to deal with it and she was actually brilliant.

Slow at first but became great

Mary Jane Wells is one of my favorite narrators. She can turn a stodgy condescending character into a sweetheart. As she did in this book. I loved this book for all the witty repartee, the human interactions reflected in all manners, including anger. I especially liked that quirkiness was accepted and welcomed...eventually. This book is highly recommended be me for anyone who loves a good love story with lots of delight and humor.

Great Narrator and great book

I love Eloisa James books, they are so consistently good, but I really had fun reading and listening to this one. It was so great. Both MMCs are now favorites and then on top of that Mary Jane Wells is amazing as the narrator. Perfect book!

Excellent narrator and story

Superb narrator enhances this extremely well-written story. Delightful heroine with a loving heart and brave cheerfulness in the face of society's scorn and verbal cruelty. Memorable twins whose frank comments and unabashed questions are hysterically funny.

Superb narration

The book was excellent with real issues that plague our society. The h/h were perfect not too much angst and great steam with historical children. Loved the book. Thank you
