About this listen

In the sixth and final thriller of the “wildly entertaining” (Kirkus Reviews) Miriam Black series, Miriam tries to break the curse of her powers, but first she must face The Trespasser a final time.

Still reeling from the events of The Raptor and the Wren, Miriam must confront two terrifying discoveries: the Trespasser now has the power to inhabit the living as well as the dead, and Miriam is pregnant.

Miriam knows her baby is fated to die, but Miriam is the Fatebreaker. And if the rules have changed for her nemesis, her own powers are changing as well. Miriam will do whatever it takes to break her curse and save her child. But as Miriam once again finds herself on the hunt for a serial killer and in need of an elusive physic, she can feel the threads of her past coming together - and the pattern they’re forming is deadly.

To end the Trespasser’s influence in her world, Miriam must face her demon a final time. And, this time, one of them must die. Vultures is a heart-pounding conclusion to the series: “Think Six Feet Under cowritten by Stephen King and Chuck Palahniuk” (SFX).

Loved everything I’m so sad it’s over.
I know it needed to be over but I’m really gonna miss Miriam!

Absolutely loved the series and I've been dodging years of finishing the series because I didn't want this ride to end...

Final Book

It took me a moment to get passed all the language, but once I did, holy cow!

Warning: if you have a problem with profanity, these books will not be for you.

I have listen to all six books and loved every one of them. The subject matter is so unusual and the books are so well written. And Emily does the best job with her voice overs giving individual life to all the great characters.

Nice job by Chuck Wendig! Nicely brings the tale of Miriam to closure, giving her what she thinks she wanted but yet giving her not at all what she wanted. Explores the powers in more detail. We learn much more about The Trespasser. We learn more about Gabby’s fate. It’s all left in a place where Wendig never needs to write another word about this “world” but yet could pick it up again in 10yrs and still have it be fresh and interesting.

A nice closure to Miriam Black’s tale

Miriam Black is the kind of gal you either love or hate. The series is raw and gory, and gritty and yes, full of a whole heap of cuss words. From the first book, I was hooked. I was interested in her character and wanted to see how she progressed through everything that was thrown at her. I loved seeing her grow. I'm sad to see the series end, but all good things must come to an end.

Excellent Conclusion

I've been following this series off and on for the past... Lots of years.

Honestly didn't feel like the kind of series that was ever going to end (just because that's what people do, now. Got a Cash cow? Milk that thing till it croaks). Got sad when I saw this was the last book, but at the same time...

It's a good ending. Thanks, Chuck. Ya did good.

Can we get a series sequel, though?
