The story was good but the narrator was not. The girls sounded ok but the men were bad.

Lovely story and narrator was good. A lesson to learn is to trust in God and His Word. Thank you for the story!

I truly liked the storyline but the narrator did not do it justice. I do not like to be critical but the male voices needed a bit more change

Overall great!

I found this story quite boring. It is a Christian romance novel, and that in itself would not deter me from liking the story. I have read other Christian romance novels that I liked very much. This was however, a bit too preachy for my tastes. I like a clean sweet adventurous romance novel with the implied what would Jesus do factor, this was just too in your face Christian for my taste. It is like the author was afraid not to remind the read every few pages that this was a Christian book. The storyline was boring and the narrator was horrible. I have written other reviews where the narrator ruined a good book, but this a case where the narrator ruined a just ok book. The voice she used for the hero was so bad I almost could not finish the listening. The voice was a cross between the character from Sling Blade meets Forrest Gump who then suffers a debilitating brain injury. Painful to listen too, by far the worst hero voice I have ever heard.

Boring story and horrible narrator

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book might appeal more to readers looking specifically for inspirational fare. I am not opposed to inspirational fare and do read in that genre - however this book just didn't seem to make it for me - either as inspirational or not. The book didn't hang together for me...the characters didn't seem consistent either throughout the book or within the context of the time period in which they lived.

Has Wagered Heart turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not from this genre as I've read a lot from this genre and usually enjoy it. I will likely think long and hard before I buy another book by this author.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kathy Garver?

I don't know - I really didn't like her voice for the heroine's friend. She made the dialogue seem stilted.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration and dread. I actually dreaded listening to this book. Actually not wanting to listen to a book frustrates me because it is not like me at all. I'm an avid fan of audio books and enjoy both fiction and non-fiction in audio format. I preferred silence to this book - hence the decision not to finish it. There are too many other books to listen to that don't inspire such a reaction.

Didn't finish

I was disappointed in this book. I expect lots from Robin Lee Hatcher, usually I LOVE her books but this one fell short, quite short actually. The story was only partly good and if they could just kill off one more person it would have made it even worse. Sorry, can not reccommend this one, usually she delivers.

too bad :(
