About this listen

If anyone ever said being an adult was easy, they hadn't been one long enough. Diana Casillas can admit it: she doesn't know what the hell she's doing half the time. How she's made it through the last two years of her life without killing anyone is nothing short of a miracle. Being a grown-up wasn't supposed to be so hard. With a new house, two little boys she inherited in the most painful possible way, a giant dog, a job she usually loves, more than enough family, and friends, she has almost everything she could ever ask for. Except for a boyfriend. Or a husband. But who needs either one of those?

there are pros and cons

I'm a fan of Mariana Zapata. The books that i have listened to usually revolves around family and this book is no different.

I like how family-oriented the lead female is and how strong she is to be taking care of 2 children that are not even her own. but... too much blabbering. too much back story instead of going straight to the point. reminds me of a girl friend who would start telling stories and would end up all over the place while I'm waiting for what her actual story is all about. it could get annoying. Would have been better if she actually did stood up for herself when it came to that Christy chick instead of being such a crybaby. but, as a single 'mother', she is strong and loving and nurturing.

as for the male lead Dallas... respectable and loving. someone who is loyal, responsible and also loves his family.. i couldn't say much of a negative about him.

Overall, i like the slow turn of events. just too much blabbering from the female lead.

Wait For It & Wall of Winnipeg my two favorite books!

Mariana has written my two favorite books. This one was a bit of a tear jerker and Wall of Winnipeg was hilarious. You've got to read them both!!

Awesome!!

I thought I couldn't love a Mariana Zapata book more than The Wall of Winnipeg and Me...Until Wait For It! It is so witty and smart!! A super slow burn with heart.

"Talk was talk. Anyone could say they were Batman, but not everyone could be Batman."

I loved listening to the audiobook of Wait For It. The narrator, Callie Dalton, does an amazing job bringing the author's voice to life right off the page

A brilliant story of family, sacrifice & love

I pressed play on this audio after listening to The Wall of Winnipeg so I had an idea of who the characters were and the type of "slowburn"experience I would be getting. This story was so engaging, emotional and felt so very real that I couldn't stop. The storyline was well developed and the character's connection and the development of those relationships were exeptionally done. Callie Dalton's narration is also perfection. Simply put, Mariana Zapata's words and her performance is an amazing marriage in audio heaven. Thumbs up!!

Awesome!

Love everything Mariana Zapata has written, I love how she really develops her characters. She gives them real lives, she doesn't rush to escalate the story too quickly and create a pace where the reader(listener) gets whiplash trying to keep up.
I love Callie Dalton! She is a great Narrator, each character in the book has a distinct voice, it's easy to know who is speaking, and her male voices don't sound ridiculous. She has great timing and pacing.
There is just nothing to dislike about this book. If you have not read/listened to her earlier books, you won't get all of the nuances of the cameos by the main characters of the other books, but if you are just jumping in, you will understand just fine, and maybe be intrigued enough to read them. (If you liked this one, you definitely won't regret reading/listening to all of her others!)

Lacks complexity

Book requires more development, more personal growth and self awareness to go with it.
I loved From Lukov with Love, and Kulti. It seems to me the addition of a sport gave a framework to write around. The life of child athletes, the rigors of sports training gave each character a depth lacking in this and some others she wrote.

I expected more in the most recent book, found it less enjoyable than earlier work. Having a formula is fine, but this fell short.

I love this author!

Mariana does it again. I have blown through almost all of her books now (I only have one left, sad little tear) and I love them all. I don't know how she does it. Each story is unique, each one pulls at my damn heartstrings, each one has me loving her flawed characters. This one was no exception. I may have cried one or two times listening to this story, and laughed out loud more than once. I absolutely loved it. The narrator, as always, totally hits it out of the park for me. Mariana is now an auto buy for me.

Dallas and Diana complete the family

This was another winner from Mariana Zapata. I was a little scared that my second audiobook by her will succumb to the sophomore jinx. No such worries because this book had my favorite trope, the single parent who finds love. This story focused more on the family aspect than the romance and I loved that. Callie Dalton definitely fits Zapata’s characters because her voice added to my enjoyment.

Diana Casillas (yes, related to Sal Casillas from Kulti) is raising her two nephews, Josh and Louie at the ripe ole age of 29 years old. Events led her to meeting her neighbor Dallas Walker. As a parent myself, I appreciated hearing Diana’s inner musings as I have similar thoughts going on in my head. I also loved how much she just loved those boys and did her best with what hand life dealt her.

I knew Dallas was a good guy even though we didn’t know his situation with his ex. He was trying to look out for his brother as well as looking after his grandmother.
There was moments of sadness, angst, humor and romance. The author just took her time to outline the plot, form the characters and unfold the story. I loved what each character brought to the narrative. I also loved how the narrator’s voice brought this story to life. The ending was just so AAAHHHHHH! I just exhaled with pleasure. Bravo to the author. I can’t wait to get to the other books Mariana Zapata has written because these are the kinds of books I want to listen to.

Another hits Mariana Zapata

This is another great book by Mariana Zapata. It is a slow burn but that is what I love about it. It builds and establishes their bond. So worth a credit or the price of the book. Mariana is my favorite author and I have all her books. I look forward to her future books.

I listen to this audiobook at least once a month

What did you love best about Wait for It?

This book & audiobook really hit me in the feels. I openly wept a few times because that is how moving I found it & how convincing Callie Dalton was as the narrator.

What other book might you compare Wait for It to and why?

All of Mariana Zapata's books have that epic slow burn romance going on so do yourself a favor and also check The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, Kulti, Under Locke, Lingus, Rhythm, Chord, & Malykhin, etc.

Have you listened to any of Callie Dalton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think I could listen to Callie Dalton read out a shopping list and still be a fan. If I could have her record all my favorite books, I would totally make that happen.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Anything involving Louie and Josh.

Any additional comments?

One of my favorite things about this book was the fact that it connected some of her past books to this one (Under Locke & Wall of Winnipeg). I'm
