About this listen

Award-winning author Susin Nielsen has created two narrators who will steal your heart and make you laugh out loud.

Thirteen-year-old Stewart is academically brilliant but socially clueless.

Fourteen-year-old Ashley is the undisputed "it" girl in her class, but her grades stink.

Their worlds are about to collide when Stewart and his dad move in with Ashley and her mom. Stewart is trying to be 89.9 percent happy about it, but Ashley is 110 percent horrified. She already has to hide the real reason her dad moved out; "Spewart" could further threaten her position at the top of the social ladder.

They are complete opposites. And yet they have one thing in common: They - like everyone else - are made of molecules.

An important story teens will relate to

I really enjoyed how real Susin Nielsen's characters were and how she deals with some important issues many kids have to cope with. The story is engrossing, and I didn't ever want to stop listening. The two performers reading Stewart's and Ashley's roles were very effective. I highly recommend this title!

Beautiful story of belonging

I read this with my neurodivergent tween, and he loved a story that centered a character he could so clearly relate to. We had lots of moments of connection and discussion over things that happened. For a kid who struggles to relate to others, seeing himself and understanding what the MC was going through was just beautiful to watch. We thoroughly enjoyed. Phenomenal, perfect, according to my tween.

Nice but predictable

I love that the characters are complex and the book pulls you into the way they think. But the plot is very predictable and feels too educational.

Worth It

Though I'm well past my my teenage years, I still decided to purchase this book mainly because I like both narrators. I wasn't even familiar with the author. I purchased this with only skimming through the blurb and the comments, but I wasn't disappointed. Besides the excellent narration, the plot was beautiful. I loved how smart yet innocent Stewart was and how "mature" yet innocent Ashley was.

Also, this book touched various subjects which I also transcends to adult life - family relationship, genuine friendship, frenemies, love, LGBT, social structure (albeit it's mostly in the school setting), self acceptance, and more.

Funny, insightful, delightful.

Great story with lovely characters. A typical high school story with enough new twists to be very relevant.
