About this listen

With nowhere to go, no one to help her, Leigh fled into the arms of Luke Casteel! Leigh Van Voreen had to escape from Boston's Farthinggale Manor. The foul secret she harbored within her seemed to darken her life forever. Jillian, her mother, would not believe her...and Tony Tatterton, her stepfather, had betrayed her most cruelly.

But the pure devotion of Luke Casteel promised her hope and respect. Only Luke knew her deepest of secrets...only Luke would love and protect her. Bravely, she bore the suspicions of the Willies' hillfolk as she tried to grasp the happiness that had so long eluded her. Leigh prayed with all her heart that her bright, shining dreams would save her from tragedy at last....

Love the story - very hard to get past the narrator. If you liked the first 4 books in the series you will also like this, I have to listen to the entire series or it drives me mad. However it is really hard to put up with the whisper weird voice.

It was so hard to finish this book with the narrator's whispering voice! why did she do that? I will never buy another book she narrates

did not like the narrator's whispering voice

I started this book and stopped it three times before just going with it -- and it *does* get better, honestly, but it's just so weird a choice to whisper. I liked the other characters' voices and I understand that it was a stylistic thing to do the whispering for Leigh but...why? It was so annoying. SO. ANNOYING. No one talks like that, especially young teenagers. I was relieved when other characters were speaking just so it would stop.

why the whispering whyyyyyyyy

The story line was great. I read this series when I was a teenager. But the reader whispered through the whole book. Why? It Was so weird it was hard to get into the book. It was very annoying.

I have to turn my volume to full blast just to hear her voice. She speaks in a bare whisper. Definitely prefer the other narrator from the other Casteel series.

Please have someone else read this book.

The story is great, but the reader whispers through the whole thing. Difficult to listen to.

Great story, terrible reader

i really enjoy the casteel series and going into Web Of Dreams i was excited to learn more about leigh’s life. it falls apart for me when jillian and leigh move to farthinggale manor; no vc andrews protagonist has it easy but leigh is put through a really nasty ringer of cruelty that is often difficult to sit through.

while i appreciate the narrator’s time and voice for this story, she often is very whispery in places that don’t call for it. additionally the production is often lacking, i needed to adjust my volume on more than one occasion.

a little too over-the-top for me.
