About this listen

Led by Wedge Antilles, the legendary pilots of Rogue Squadron prepare to risk everything in their battle against the Empire.

Sleek, swift, and deadly, they are the X-wing fighters. And as the battle against the Empire rages across the vastness of space, the pilots risk both their lives and their machines for the cause of the Rebel Alliance. Now they must embark on a dangerous espionage mission, braving betrayal and death on the Imperial homeworld to smash the power of a ruthless foe!

It is the evil heart of a battered and reeling Empire: Coruscant, the giant city-world from whose massive towers the Imperial High Command directs the war. The Rebels will invade this mighty citadel in a daring move to bring the Empire to its knees. But first Wedge Antilles and his X-wing pilots must infiltrate Coruscant to gain vital intelligence information. Capture means death, or worse—trapped in the clutches of the vicious leader known as “Iceheart,” Ysanne Isard, now Emperor in all but name.

And one of Rogue Squadron’s own is already her slave, a traitor hidden behind a mask of innocence, working to betray both colleagues and the Rebellion itself.

Glad unabridged versions are coming back.

Both author and narrator are excellent. I hope more unabridged legends books will come. Marc Thompson is excellent as always as a narrator when it comes to Star Wars.

Thrilling Follow Up to Rogue Squadron

Wedge's Gamble is the second book in the wonderful legends series. Following the reintroduction of Rogue Squadron, this book focuses on the squadron's mission to take the world of Coruscant away from the remnants of the Empire. Imperial Director Ysanne Isard has a horrific gift for them.

This book was better than the first for me, fewer dog fights, which are harder to follow for me unless onscreen, and more time spent with the squadron members, getting to know them better. We also learn more about Coran and Mirax and their developing relationship. Action, drama, terror and more all make for a great classic story. We are left with a cliffhanger, but I have the next book already. I am so happy that we have unabridged audio productions of 5 books so far. Marc Thompson masterfully handles narration and character voices. I hope the entire series gets unabridged audiobooks it deserves.

A stellar follow up to X-Wing

After blowing through book one, this entry continues with a simply wonderful performance by Thompson, who somehow manages to add a new voice for the slew of characters constantly being added into the narrative.
The stakes are higher, the plot thickening, and the twists are even tighter in the second entry of the X-wing series. Really hoping these unabridged stories continue as our heroes continue to carve their own stories into the legendary galaxy that once was…

The Push For Coruscant!

The push to Coruscant continues in creative and potentially compromising ways, and the squad is divided...and grows.

4.5/5 Great continuation that folds into the EU superbly, and Thompson and the audio wizards over at Del Rey continue to bring new depth to these amazing stories!

Marc Thompson did it again!

First off let me say that I agree with the numerous other classic Star Wars fans when they think it's downright treasonable to abridge these books. I grew up reading them. Cracking the covers and diving into these stories reminds me of summers in Minnesota as a kid flying by the edge of my imagination and barely able to wait for the next book.
This audio book and it's predecessor "Rogue Squadron" are well worth the time and credits. Marc Thompson is my all time favorite Star Wars reader in that he brings the original characters' vocal inflictions and mannerisms to the fore, bringing the flair and flavor of the original 3 screen plays and along with it, the romance and iconic nostalgia that has marked this series from the get go. I can't listen to anyone else reading these books.
This series was always good. Stackpole isn't my favorite writer if I am totally honest. I think alot of his stuff is edgy and I wasn't fond of his Character Corin. Don't flame me lol. just my opinion. BUT the series is worth listening to. the Story is deep and pulls you in and soon you forgive whatever irritants bug you about the writing as it goes on.
in this installment our heroes find themselves picking up where Rogue Squadron left off. they acquire squad mates after the last sortie left their numbers depleted and just in time as the Leaders of the New fledgling Republic make a push to take Coruscant out of the hands of a weakening Empire. Rogue Squadron finds themselves on the ground carrying out a critical top secret mission to enable the Republic to gain this victory. but treachery, lies, danger, and deception await their fateful mission as it is revealed their is a spy in their midst. And unbeknownst to them, the arch villain the evil Isard is concocting a fool proof plan to destroy the Rebellion...and it just might work too
the harrowing tale is full of all the action and elements that made Star Wars what it is (til Disney got a hold of it anyway...hem...but that is another discussion) and I would recommend this series to any classic Star Wars fan who can't get enough.
Can't wait for the third book to be released. til then, dear reader, May the force be with you. lol.

The Character development

Phenomenally descriptive, feels like you’re watching a movie and absolutely captures the evil of isard. 110/10 will listen again. P.s. Marc Thompson is Star Wars you cannot change my mind.
