About this listen

Where danger dances on the edge of desire and love comes with a price.

Starting over in a small town, in a place Jane's never been, is hard enough without the fact that on her first day in a new gym, she sat on a guy's face. His face.

Jane Barlow's life is upended when her father is killed by the cartel he's chasing. To keep her family safe, the FBI suggests moving somewhere new. Roped into a fake relationship that becomes anything but, she gives everything to Griffin, only for him to rip her heart out and then disappear.

Griffin Marsh, an almost-retired Navy SEAL (almost being the keyword), finds himself absolutely smitten by the strangest woman he's ever met and fumbles the bag at a very crucial moment. Stubborn as always, Jane refuses to give him the time of day, and he knows it's deserved.

When Griffin's military life collides with Jane's personal one, will he be able to make it to her in time to save her life? Will she be able to soften her heart and forgive him—before it's too late? Or will they both be destined to live in what could have been?

I absolutely love this story, fell in love with Griffin and felt the FMC to be strong …. The narrator however sounded a bit stressed out!!!

Gripping plot and intriguing characters… narrator meh

At first, I absolutely fell in love with this book but as the book kept progressing, I felt like the author was dragging the events out for some reason, it became really hard to finish the last four hours of the book.

A dragged out unnecessarily

What I should have said was a fascinating read that touches on the psychopathy of men in special forces. But wrapped up in a thrilling fake dating storyline.

Loved this book

I would’ve loved this book so much more if there was just one obstacle to get over, but 3😮‍💨 it dragged on.!

Dragged on.!

I didn't like the narrator doing both female and male narrations. It's always better to me when a male does the male narrations.

The story

I loved this book!! I can’t wait to get the others in this series! Literally added all her books to my WL the minute I finished this!

Loved this so much!

I have to say I enjoyed this read. Good storyline; mostly relatable characters. I little on the soft side regarding romance so if you’re into more… booktok style stuff this may not be enough for your liking. Otherwise really great lead into the romance world. Narrator’s voice was kind of off in my opinion regarding the main character but she read it very well. I could feel each expression and feeling the characters had from her inflictions.

I'd like to leave a zero star review. I don't quit books, but this one had me screaming at the FMC, and not thinking a whole lot about the MMC either. The characters are really flat with zero development. Research going into this book, if done at all was one "sponsored" google search. It's cringe at best. 1. Teachers don't loose their jobs for dating the son of another teacher. 2. Military members don't get kicked out for being in a relationship. 3. People that can't swim well don't jump off a cliff into a pond at night into freezing water, and then run through the forest barefoot after scaling rocks to get out of said pond. 4. Dumb-Dumb should never be used in a book that's not talking about very young children, and possibly not then either. 5. The phrase, "are you a grower or shower like my brother" is NOT ok. 6. If you're ever in a situation without brakes and your going 20MPH, please use the emergency brake instead of calling for someone to rescue you. I'm not sure how this became a series of books, since I couldn't get through the first one.

Hands down the worst.

Okay this is a first for me but this book was terrible. I forced myself to complete the whole book because I already wasted the credit. The main female character is the worse, all of the adults in the book act like children. 27 and 38 years old can’t communicate and the FMC is a grown child. She’s the worse. The story went in so many directions and could either stuck with the stalker line or the cartel witness protection plot. Do not recommend.
