Publisher's summary

Daily devotions for people who hate daily devotions.

Let’s face it. A lot of Christian resources can feel cheesy, out-of-touch, and a little boring. But when Skye Jethani started doodling and writing up some of his thoughts about God, his Twitter and email list blew up.

What If Jesus Was Serious? is a compilation of all-new reflections from Skye. He takes a look at some of Jesus’ most demanding teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and pushes us to ask whether we’re really hearing what Christ is saying.

The audiobook is memorable and enjoyable to listen to, and Skye’s incisive reflections make it worthwhile for any Christian. If you’ve traditionally been dissatisfied with Christian devotional resources but love to learn about Jesus and think deeply, this book was written for you.

Teaching the Way

This was a great compliment to the book. After I read the book and was hoping for the audio format. Skye carries forward the teachings of Jesus the Christ and stays true to what Christians call the “Great Commission”- teaching what the LORD commands. I recommend all of Skye’s books.

Highly recommend this book.

it is a fast read and very comprehensive. it laid out several very good points and had great additional follow up verses to further help understand the points. It has been one of the best books I have read this year.

Living a Sermon on the Mount Life

There have been several interpretations of the Sermon on the Mount over the years. Some say it is a figurative lesson by Jesus because the teachings in it are way too hard for any man to actually live. Some say it is hyperbole as who can be perfect like God? Many of the teachings of Jesus have been explained away by well-meaning pastors and teachers to try to make it more attainable. Skye Jethani takes these questions and asks, "What if Jesus was serious?" What if he really meant us to live in accordance with this sermon? What if we are supposed to turn the other cheek, cast out anything that causes us to stumble, and not worry about our needs?
This is a series of short lessons on the Sermon on the Mount with the premise that Jesus was indeed serious when He said what He said. This would make a really good daily devotional as each lesson has a compelling idea that would propel you through the day thinking on the point made and drawing you closer in your relationship with God. At the end of each lesson are additional verses to study and backup what was said in this lesson.
It's funny to have an audiobook of a visual guide. The pictures are missing. It kinda would have been nice if there was an accompanying pdf with the doodles and the linked chapters in the audio book. Other than that, I have no critiques for this amazing book.

A very relevant message for today’s church

It was an excellent and insightful teaching on one of my favorite parts of the Bible. The reader does a very good job making it feel authentic.
Valuable words for anyone inside the church to recognize where we have gotten off course, and for those who have left the church to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Great Devotional Through the Sermon on the Mount

I like the length of each chapter and the additional scriptures to meditate over. It's great for mid-day devotion to keep focused on Jesus. I'm looking forward to reading his other books in this series.
