About this listen

Meet Gillian, a former "other woman", who's trying to let go of her past. Her story is the first of true stories told from the other woman herself, one story at a time. The stories in When the Affair Is Over show the journey of these women as they shed their past and regain their self-respect, told one story at a time.

The story line lacked details. I was often left confused about who the author was referring to in the story. Often referring to “him” when it discussed more than one “him” in the story.
The topic sparked my curiosity, but this may be better suited for young and mature readers.

I wanted to like this, I did. And really, the subject matter is interesting, but it just came off a bit saccharine with the “she was a queen deserving of true love”. I don’t disagree, necessarily, and I can identify with that, but I suppose I was imagining more of a “how it started, why it was messy, how she snapped out of it” story that was a little more investigative while this read like a teenager’s diary of self-discovery.

I bit self-righteous..

I did not like the thoughts that she felt trapped with the married man there’s always a way out.

Trapped

The story was boring and so was the person reading. The story attempted to pair fiction with self-help.

Just not good

Do you believe some of this happened? Yes. It just didn’t happen this way. The author sugarcoated it. It leaves you feeling like it was fake.

This is not true to herself

I enjoyed the author giving us an inside look, a willingness to be open about such a reoccurring problem in our society, so that maybe someone else won’t make the same mistakes. It’s interesting to see how it can happen so fast and cause so much damage. I’d recommend this book for any man or woman on their journey to self-love, discovery, and personal development. Can’t wait to see what Gillian does next!

Good reading for anyone on their journey to love.

A moving main character that really shows both sides of how she was in an entanglement, and her journey to happiness and getting out of it.
