Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong comes a brand new psychological thriller about the lengths one woman will go to in order to save a child.

“Few crimes are reported as quickly as a snatched kid.”

That’s what the officer tells single mother Aubrey Finch after she reports a kidnapping. So why hasn’t anyone reported the little boy missing? Aubrey knows what she saw: a boy being taken against his will from the park. It doesn’t matter that the mother can’t be found. It doesn’t matter if no one reported it. Aubrey knows he’s missing.

Instead, people question her sanity. Aubrey hears the whispers. She’s a former stay-at-home mom who doesn’t have primary custody of her daughter, so there must be something wrong with her, right? Others may not understand her decision to walk away from her safe life at home, but years of hiding her past - even from the people she loves - were taking their toll, and Aubrey knows she can’t be the mother or wife she envisions until she learns to leave her secrets behind.

When the police refuse to believe her, she realizes that rescuing the boy is up to her alone. But after all the secrets, how far is she willing to go - even to protect a child?

A Must Listen

This book had me on the edge of my seat from a short time in. I swear that Therese Plummer could make an IRS audit sound suspenseful. Every book that she has read has the perfect amount of suspense in it. I cannot get enough of this book and her narration. The voices she does are fantastic. Can't wait for more from Kelly Armstrong and Therese Plummer.

Kelley Armstrong does it again

I came across her Rockton series earlier this year and since then I’ve devoured as many titles authored by her. Therese Plummer + Kelley Armstrong = Perfection!

Really Good - made even better by great narration

I really enjoyed this book - the premise was somewhat unique and as always, Kelley Armstrong developed her characters well. The book was interesting and entertaining!

Negative reviews about the narration are puzzling to me - it was spot on and Therese Plummer gave the characters depth and authenticity. Her voice was a little soft - but that was probably more of a result of the recording technique. She did not "whisper" as some of the reviews have suggested. In my opinion, she told the story well and made a good book even better.

5 Star Suspense...

This newest stand alone by Kelly Armstrong has it all! Mystery, suspense thriller with a great story and characters. The development of the protagonist is super especially since the story is told from in the first person from her point of view.
Aubrey Finch married her husband Paul with a suitcase full of secrets. These take a toll on the marriage and the two split. Throughout the story her past becomes very much a part of her present. Without the knowledge and skills she possesses, she probably would not survive.
The publisher's summary gives a decent overview but it doesn't convey depth of Aubrey's maternal instincts and the conviction to rescue a child she can't even prove exists.
Therese Plummer does an outstanding job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
