Publisher's summary

Lincoln
I've done a good job getting over my past. I'm not only proud of who I am, but revel in it. Still, I don't let myself get too close to people. With closeness comes questions and those pesky feelings, and I'm having none of that. I've got a great job, friends, I'm cute and twinky, and my bed's never empty. What more do I need? Except I can't stop sleeping with Rush Alexander. I try, I really do, but I just can't stay away, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is stressing me out. Rush has the power to hurt me-something I swore I'd never let happen again. Unfortunately, things become a little more complicated when I tell a white lie that lands me in a fake relationship with him. Yeah, not my best moment.

Rush
I've always been an easygoing guy and don't let many things get to me. I've worked hard to make my dream of becoming a professional motocross racer come true, and everything else is icing on the cake. Like Lincoln Gray, for example. I need to tread carefully, even though I want more from him than our occasional hookups. If I give what we have too much throttle, we'll crash and burn. But when Linc accidentally announces we're boyfriends in front of my mom, the race is on. First, I have to show him there's more between us than the way we burn up the sheets together. When Linc finally trusts me in ways he doesn't anyone else, there's no turning back. I'm a firm believer that nothing worth having comes easily, and Lincoln Gray is worth it all.

Whiskey Throttle is part of the Fever Falls series but can be listened to as a standalone.

Fever Falls part 3

I enjoyed this book much more than the 2nd. I loved the first book and this one made me remember why I love Riley Hart. This was a great story about Rush and Lincoln, 2 friends that occasionally hooked up, but Lincoln was commitment shy. When Lincoln suddenly outs them as being in a relationship, it's too late to take back what he said. Linc and Rush fake a relationship and because they already have so much sexual chemistry, it's inevitable that things develop again with them for real this time. I felt that this was an easy to listen romance, not too much angst. Give it a listen--you'll enjoy it.

Great friends to lovers

I'm really enjoying this series and I loved how this one developed and played out. It's sweet and emotional and I really loved how things were not overly drawn out but also not too quickly resolved. It's a lovely story of the bonds of family and friendship. Linc is a bit of an over the top character and nothing can ruin one more than bad narration. Dean I think does a fantastic job of representing him and his character without making him cringeworthy. Overall a great listen.

These two!!

Linc linc linc in his words a needy twink with major trust/abandonment/betrayal issues. Rush 🤍 badass motocross racer with the patience and heart to do whatever it takes to show linc that they belong to each other! Oh and a serious dose of praise kink

Returning to Fever Falls

I fell in love with Linc in the first book of the Fever Falls series. Back then he was Beau’s best friend, a flirt, and a twink. He still is all those things in this book but he’s also much more. I was curious about his backstory and as it was revealed my heart hurt more and more. His childhood was horrible and his determination to put it behind him admirable. Still, there were moments I could relate to. If you’re unlucky, as a child, you often wondered why you’re not good enough. Loveable enough. Worthy of affection and attention. Linc went through all that, faced some really tough times, and came out the better man. He’s dedicated his life to helping others and, as a nurse, does a pretty good job. He is loved by coworkers and patients alike and there’s little doubt why. But under the happy exterior is a little boy wanting to be loved.

One patient features prominently in the book and that storyline gave me lots of feel good moments along with a few dark ones as well.

Rush is a motocross racer. Professional one at that and pretty damn good. He’s also not out. He’s not in the closet either. He just lives his life hoping others won’t look too closely. There are gay athletes in professional sports, to be sure, but most of them stay in the closet to protect their careers. The ones who come out when they go into retirement are admirable, to be sure, but it’s more proof how many men (and women) are in the closet. How Rush deals with the problem is pivotal in the book.

As for the pretend boyfriend trope, it worked – especially because the men were together before. They have hurdles to overcome, for sure. Linc has a tough time trusting and Rush isn’t truly out. Throw in a concerned mother, a meddling best friend, and a group of men who want the couple to be happy and it makes for a great book.

Michael Pauley is narrating this series and I’m so glad. He’s consistent with his voices for each character in each book and listening to him is a true pleasure. I can’t wait for the subsequent books that are hopefully coming soon.

Rush & Linc 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I looooooved this story!!! Half the time I was shaking with laughter at the hilarity of Lincoln. Literally some of the best lines I’ve heard in a long time. The entire story was equal parts hilarious and smoking hot! One of the best from Riley Hart and one of Michael Dean’s best performances.

Loved it! Love this series !

The writing is superb! Lincoln & Rush seem like an unlikely couple but they are perfect for one another. What I especially enjoy about this story is that there’s no heavy angst - just your typical run of the mill “🙄boys ” nonsense .
It’s sweet and schmexy and insiteful !
Highly recommend
