a mystery novel with LGBT characters!

I must confess, I am a fan of Steve Schatz's work. This is the third novel of his that I have listened to on Audible.com. This is the second in his Magawatta series (it's really Bloomington, Indiana) and is as funny and engaging as his first, "Any Summer Sunday," or ASS for short. We see many of the same cast of characters as the first novel, but this time Schatz moves us along at a break-neck pace in a great "who-done-it." In the midst of his wry humor and puns (wonderful groaners) he sprinkles the text with thoughtful reflections on the human condition, human rights, the stupidity of unexamined prejudice, and our need for mutual tolerance and understanding.
Schatz is a skillful wordsmith in his writing, and a delightful reader of his own work. His collection of voices for the different folks in the novel is a delight (I especially like the drunken slur over a southern accent of Aunt May, who regales us with her nymphomaniac sexcapades).
If you haven't yet read it, get "Any Sunner Sunday" first. It sets the scene at Nacho Mama's and introduces us to the main characters. Enjoy!
