Publisher's summary

Twenty-five-year-old Rose McMurray may be beautiful, smart, and capable of running her family's ranch at Whispering Mountain, but she's backed away from marriage three times without giving anyone reasons. Everyone thinks she is a coward, afraid of any adventure, including falling in love. She's never done a single wild or reckless thing in her life...until now. Duncan McMurray, like Rose, was adopted into the family. As a Texas Ranger, he swears he'll never settle down and marry. He's been Rose's guardian angel since they were kids but for the first time in their lives he's the one who has caused her to be in danger. Somehow, he has to protect her from an outlaw gang determined to kill her without letting Rose know of the danger she's in. He's convinced that her heart can't take the stress if she knows...the only question is can his heart take the nearness of her. When opposites collide the adventure begins...

Another great story in Josie's series.

I am always amazed at each book Jodie writes. She keeps me interested in every story till the very end.

The best in the series

I’m the beginning of the entire series, it took me some time to get used to the narrator. She was outstanding in this book. The story made me laugh out loud and then hold my breath in suspense. I haven’t enjoyed a series this good in a while.

Great Book

Excellent story --one I wanted to finish in one session!! I wish there were more to follow in this series on audiobooks. Narration was somewhat lacking.

Jodi Thomas NEVER DISAPPOINTS!

I have been listening to this series from the 1st book. I was so happy when Jodi started writing about the 2nd generation. I liked the last book a bit better because of the interaction with more of the family and let us get to know the girls and Duncan. This book was good and kept my interest but I missed news about the girls and the rest of the family! Would like to have known what the family reaction was to Rose and Duncan falling in love.

Hope the next book ties more of the extended family in and give an update on Rose, Duncan and Em.

Duck and his Rose

Wild Texas Rose is the sixth book in the Whispering Mountain series, it is the second book with the second generation. This book follows Rose McMurray the adopted daughter of Teagen McMurray. Rose is the middle daughter and spends most of her life taking care of the ranch house. She has decided not to marry three times always feeling like something is missing in the relationship. Now her friend Victoria has written needing her help. Rose has never done anything wild in her life, but now she is leaving to go help her friend with a problem she knows nothing about.
Duncan "Duck" McMurray is a McMurray in name only, being the adopted son of Travis McMurray. He has been taking care of Rose his who life, keeping her out of danger not that she would know it. Duck never thought that Whispering Mountain was home if Rose was not there. Now Duncan McMurray is in Dallas working as a Texas Rangers, a pair of train robbers are on trial and have promised to kill every McMurray. So now that Rose is up here and not on the Ranch he has two jobs, the Rangers and keeping Rose out of danger.
This story is said to be about Rose and Duncan, but it is more like four stories in one. Each story crossing over the other; Victoria and Killian, Abe and the school marm's, and Stitch and Hallie's. Jodi Thomas does a great job to spend all these characters in to one store. Linda Stephens does a great job with the narration.

Pretty good

Jodi Thomas's books are a but too sugary happy but there is always some real human psychological insight too, some wisdom and lots of love - on all levels. I can always count on Thomas' books to give me lift.
