About this listen

Pretty sure I was a serial killer in my past life.
Because karma is kicking my ass in this one.
Everything was copasetic. I was coasting on the wave of life… until a gnarly swell pulled me under, and I washed ashore to a nightmare. A nightmare there was no waking from.
So I packed my shit and moved all the way to the other side of the country—to the only place someone was willing to give me a second chance.
I came to swim, and though I’m on the team, I don’t want to be Elite. These bros are exactly like the ones I left behind, and I’m not stupid enough to get betrayed again.
But then karma shows up and laughs right in my face.
I slept with my coach’s daughter.
Because of course I did.
And though she calls to me like a siren, that night was just a distraction. A one-time thing.
Until she shows up at Daddy’s pool as the assistant coach. Now the very girl I can’t get off my mind is the one just declared off-limits.
Naturally, my heart decides it can’t beat without her jade stare, sassy mouth, and car that cruises so slow it uses a calendar as a speedometer.
Now I’m at the top of Coach’s crap list, and everything I left in Cali comes knocking at my door. With Landry’s safety on the line, I won’t just roll over and take it. This time, I’ll put up a fight.
There’s no telling what I’ll do or how far I’ll go to make sure Landry isn’t punished for standing by my side. When things get dangerous, I know this wildcard can’t play this game alone.
Because even if trusting people doesn’t come easy… loving her does.

Wildcard is a college sports romance novel that can be listened to as a standalone.

Okaaayyy! Rush is story is sad. since he came out I honestly thought he was an ass. but after hearing what happened I felt sorry. it's sad but I'm glad he's has Élite and of course his Siren. man idk which of the books is my favorite now. but I have to say this whole series is really good and the narrator's all do such an amazing job bringing the characters to life.

Rush and Landry

Rush and Landry met previously and had a steamy encounter. Both thought they would never see each other again. Rush finds out that the coaches daughter , Landry, will become the assistant swim coach. Rush knows she is off limits, but their attraction is still strong.I love a great sports romance and Cambria Hebert, doesn't disappoint. It is a spicy romance, with angst, drama, emotions, and twists and turns,
Cecily Foster and Gavin McAllister narration is perfection. They captured the personalities, emotions and voices of all the characters. Very well.done

Favorite Book of this Series! Audiobook Review 🎧

Favorite Book of this Series! Audiobook Review 🎧
We remember Rush from the last book when he was at Elite and Lars’ roommate and best friend.  This book goes back a bit to give us Rush’s story to learn what happened to him and how he wound up at Elite as his “last chance” because his parents had money to get him in there.  We see Rush upset in the bottom on the pool at night when he thinks no one is there trying to remember something that had happened from his past, when Landry is also there and thinks he is drowning.  She goes in to save him and that is their first meeting and connection!  School is back in session and Coach introduces the new Assistant Coach, who is his daughter Landry, who is off limits from all swimmers.  Rush is very surprised and very jealous that the guys are all looking at her and he can’t have her.  Rush and Landry decide they want to be together.  Things are happening around the locker room that are bringing Rush’s past to Elite.  Lots of secrets, suspense, questions and even some romance.  I loved having all the friends together from the other books and especially loved the friendship between Lars and Rush.  This was such an awesome book and is my new favorite of the series.  I recommend it and look forward to the next in the series.  The narration was great, and they put all their emotions into the characters and made it a very enjoyable listen.

Elite Swimmers do it better

Welcome back to the Elite swimmers. We have Rush up this time and of course these swimmers are no strangers to drama. I won’t mention much about Rush and Landry. Their love story was too much instalove for my taste but that is my personal preference. I ended up just assuming they have been together for awhile and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Rush was all in with Landry right away. He had the same loving and protective qualities as our other Elite swimmers.

What I enjoyed about this book was more than the romance, it was the entire story telling. The way that our other swimmers were involved in the story. Each book has had some suspenseful drama to it and this book was no different but yet Cambria was able to continue to make it exciting and new. There was a lot of Rush’s past that was revealed and just when you think you know who is behind it all, we get a shocking surprise.

I love the found family these boys have found amongst each other. We all loved Ryan & Jamie’s Jeep Bro friendship but you haven’t yet seen Rush & Lars Vette Bro friendship where they are each other's kidney.

I read this book previously and was really excited to listen to it on audio. Cecily Foster and Gavin McAllister really did an amazing job with the narration. They captured the personalities perfectly and felt really authentic. I loved getting to hear all the emotions and all their goofy times this time around.

Rush and Landry come alive!

I was already in love with this Westbrook Elite book and Rush was already one of my favorite book boyfriends, but the audiobook has now cemented it so much deeper!

The narration for Rush and Landry is fabulous. Rush's sarcastic, dominant, bad boy attitude comes across so well... but so does his softer, unsure side. I was melting for him over and over again! Landry's strength and sass come through so perfectly. When the two of them were bantering, I was laughing out loud, and when they were having spicy or heartfelt moments, I was rapt with attention.

I also caught a lot of moments I missed on my first read! Like the funny one-liners from the other bros, more of the special relationships Rush and Landry have with Lars, and just how deep the friction goes between Rush and everyone around him before they really get to know him.

The suspense is still wild! A murder mystery on top of a romance!? You really get a feel for how frustrating it is that Rush really doesn't know what happened that night and for the danger Landry is in by being associated with him. And the way the bros step up is quintessentially amazing! I was definitely tearing up when they all rally around him (and during the epilogue too!) I think I really need to listen to some of the other Westbrook bros in audio!

Rush and Landry

5/5 ⭐
4/5 🌶️
4/5 🎧

This may be my favorite elite book yet. The way these two fell so hard for each other from the start and the trust they, especially Landry, showed for one another was so beautiful. You could just tell they were in it for the long haul from the start without it being instalove and I absolutely loved that. Throw in a little merdur mystery and I was hooked.

One of my favorite parts about Rush was that he was this very rough guy who barely trusted himself and yet he was so caring and gentle with Landry. He was constantly checking in with her with colors during the spicy scenes (which weren't overly keenky) to make sure he wasn't being too much. The way he loved her was so good and I loved watching their relationship grow and unfold.

I've always loved the Elite team dynamic, we've seen them be there for each other through thick and thin for 4 books now, but they way they stood up for Rush was amazing. I think normally I would find this comradery corny, but the way it played out and how Cambria wrote it made it feel so real I was all in with this team.

I am so excited we're finally getting Kruger's story. I'm guessing it's with Jess, who I am so excited to officially meet too. I'll be waiting quite impatiently for the next book and hopefully some more audio releases too.

I really enjoyed this audio. Cecily Foster and Gavin McAllister both did fantastic jobs narrating these characters and Pink Flamingo put together a beautiful audiobook.

Really good read!

Wildcard is book 5 in the Westbrook Elite series. It’s a forbidden, sports romance.

Rush and Landry’s relationship was instant and combustible. Intense chemistry with a great storyline. I am loving the found family between the crew. I’m excited for the next book.

Cecily Foster and Gavin McAllister did a nice job portraying these characters.

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧 Heartfelt & Steamy!

It is great to be back in Cambria Hebert’s “Westbrook Elite” world again for another amazing novel, a sports romance and wow get a fan ready because she turned up the heat for this one. Each book stands on its own in this series, but I recommend enjoying them in order written because the characters are interconnected and appear in each other’s books and knowing their backstory adds more depth and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. That said, this fifth book is Jason Rush and Landry Resch’s story, both recent additions to the “Elite”, both coming with their own secrets and baggage. Their first encounter was a steamy one meeting while he was checking out the school and she was visiting her father, who is the swim team’s head coach. Landry transfers to Westbrook after injuring her shoulder, and her father made her an assistant coach. We learn later on that the injury was not the only reason she left Ohio to go live with her dad. Rush was not expecting to see Landry again, and vice versa, but they still held that fierce attraction to each other. Despite her being off limits as the coach’s daughter, he had to have her, and she had to have him. Then Rush’s past comes back to haunt him, a past he is still trying to come to grips with. Landry stands by his side and so does Lars, his roommate and best friend and, to Rush’s surprise, so does the team. I loved the camaraderie amongst the team members, as well as the friendship bond between Lars and Rush. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story has a lot of layers and the writing, plot and world building is fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This fast-moving story has drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Cambria Hebert, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Cecily Foster and Gavin McAllister were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, doing so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Foster nailed it as Landry, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her fierceness and to her strength and caring side. McAllister did the same for Rush and was spot on with his personality, from his vulnerable side to bossy Dom side. Both were fantastic performing the roles of all the secondary and side characters, too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already amazing story to another level. Thanks for another fabulous listen.

Secrets Revealed

Rush is the newest member of Elite. He came to Westbrook under mysterious circumstances and isn't very social with the other Elite members. The only person who has broken through to him is Lars. In WTF you see Rush go after the person hurting Lars. That is the first bond we see for Rush.

Wildcard starts out over the previous holidays when Rush and his parents are at Westbrook to interview to transfer. He and Landry have a chance meeting in the pool at Westbrook where she thinks he is drowning and dives in to save him when all he was doing was trying to blank his mind and remember the events that landed him at Westbrook.

Now, a few weeks into the new semester, Landry is introduced to the team as the Assistant Coach and Coach's daughter. We all know the old adage about Karma. Well it just came back to bite Rush. The one person he is interested in is the one person off limits.

When Rush's past comes back with a vengeance and goes after Landry, what will be the fall out. Will his former teammates and friends fill in the blanks of his missing memory? Will the person targeting him, get their revenge by hurting Landry? Will justice finally be served?

Oh, and did I mention who Rush's parents are? Goodness, talk about a major "reveal".

Now I want to know if Bodie, and possibly Blair, are the next new recruits for Westbrook. And will either get a book in this series? Or will we see a spin-off series? Just sayin'.

It was nice to listen to Cecily Foster again. It's been so long since I've listened to her. I loved her version of Landry and the strength she has during everything going on in her life. Gavin McAllister is new to me. I loved his take on Rush. He played a more mature college student, but given everything Rush has gone through, it makes sense.
