About this listen

To win her heart, he'll be in for the fight of his life.

After an illegal kick during a CFA title fight fractures Cole Easton's spine, doctors say there's nothing more they can do for the bitter Vegas fighter. They say it's a miracle he can walk, if that's what you call his crutch-dragging limp. Unwilling to give up on him, Cole's manager sends the injured fighter to the best physical therapist he knows: his niece, Katie Miller. When Cole arrives in the small town of Somerset, Wisconsin, he quickly discovers his sly manager may have had reasons other than rehab for sending him to this frozen tundra.

After a year of running from an abusive ex-boyfriend, Katie has returned to her hometown to care for her father, who's recovering from a stroke. When Uncle Marcus calls in a favor, she reluctantly finds herself taking on a rancorous MMA fighter, broken at the height of his career. He's insanely sex-on-a-stick hot - and everything she loathes in a man.

If Cole thinks his fighting days are over, he's dead wrong. To save Katie from her past and to win her heart, he'll be in for the fight of his life.

VERY ENJOYABLE STORY & A GREAT START TO NEW SERIES

Welcome to an all new Cage Fighter series and it certainly kicks off with a very entertaining first book that throws a lot into a good storyline. Drop dead gorgeous Cole needs a miracle and that's just what he gets when he's sent to rehab with the beautiful Physio Katie but it wasn't just his broken body that she eventually healed, it was his whole way of life..... but it came at a very high price.

The listen starts off well describing Cole's victory and tragic downfall, attraction and chemistry are then added to the mix which ups the listen, Katie's broken spirit, terrible past, mental and physical scars are soon revealed and, by this time, you're hooked into a good listen with likeable characters. Then the ever increasing looming danger in the present slowly slips in created by her mad, bad and scary ex which mixes things up, added to that are the inner turmoils of "should I say I love you", then a secret is overheard which leads to broken trust, drama, heartache and pain. This leaves you with a listen that has a tender romance as a physically broken Cole tries to heal a mentally broken Katie and vice versa, there's some sweet/tender and also a frantic sex scene and it concludes in a pulse-pounding confrontation of tears, bloodshed, death and heartache. But thankfully the Epilogue will leave you with a smile on your face.

Worth a credit? Dual POV's, good narration, a bit of unrealistic healing time but hey ho this is fiction after all right!, nevertheless a very captivating story and YES it would've been worth a credit but my under $10 rule applied so I just bought it saving the credit for a pricier but maybe not as enjoyable listen. So, an entertaining and enjoyable listen at a bargain price.

Wonderful love story

Which character – as performed by Neva Navarre and William LeRoy – was your favorite?

They both did an awesome job.

Any additional comments?

This was a great love story. I'm picky about my MMA romance stories, I want my Hero to be 100% into the heroine at first meeting. No cheating whatsoever! Even if they aren't a confirmed couple, it still ruins the book for me. The author gave us just the kind of loyal Hero I like. The funny moments between the couple are the best. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Audiobook is worth it

While I am not a huge fan of audio books (I want to finish the book not put them down), I really enjoyed this one. Not only does the story line pull you in, it has revelations along the way. This is my first audio with two readers and that was fantastic, each took on the character to make them come to life.

Highly recommend, this is more of building romance and trust vs many of the just fall in to bed with the hot guy.

Cheesy and repetitive

The plot was ok and the narrators did a good job in trying to keep it exciting but this story was way too cheesy, he was "oh too perfect" and she was oh "the most beautiful woman I have ever seen" was repeated so many times I was just rolling my eyes... She was the smartest woman of all (they barely exchanged a few sentences! and judging by the type of women he described hanging out with, he would think one of the housewives of atlanta was smart too).
There were too many estereotypes and lack of character development... the sexual tension was over done and the back and forth of "he is a player, i was abused and im damaged but can barely restrain myself in front of this man" made the story shallow and unappealing.

Great surprise!

I listened to this story as it's part of KU. I have to say that I really liked the story. It had great fighting scenes, fun sexy times and I loved watching the relationship develop between the hero and heroine. Both narrators are amazing, they are definitely being added to my favorites! I am looking forward to more books by this author.

Nonstop fun

I love a love and hate romance. There was not much hate but there was a lot of unspoken feelings that felt like bickering. I really enjoyed that the point of view switched back and forth between main characters so that even though the characters were left wondering what the other was thinking... I was not

Riveting Story

Action packed and heart wrenching at times with moments of romance. Kat's character had many issues to overcome which are very familiar in today's world. She was strong and a survivor which made one wish she could overcome her demons in the long run. Definitely made me relate to her plight. Cole was patiently supporting her throughout her journey to recover from trauma . His character was very intuitive. I couldn't put this book down.

Good story overall, but...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book, but would be reluctant to recommend the audiobook. The story is is good, but the narration could have been better.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Win by Submission?

From what I have listened to, I think was when she finally opened up to the abuse she endured from her ex-boyfriend.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I very much liked the male narration. He read it in a way that showed more of the characters' personalities/emotions. He made the heroine sound more mature. The female narration made the heroine sound whiny at times & made the hero sound like a guy in his early twenties rather than a male who has lived a harder life. He didn't even sound appealing during the sex scenes when she would read. I think it would have been better if it was narrated by just the male.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, if it wasn't for being irritated at times with the female narration. I definitely would have READ the book in one sitting.

It's a Win

This was a good listen. I enjoyed the story line, laughed a little and was moved by the more emotional scenes. The heroine's story was so sad but the hero's protectiveness endeared him to me. With a sweet HEA, the book finished nicely. The dual narration was a good choice. Overall, entertaining.
