Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Joanne DeMaio comes an enchanting novel about a beautiful old house and the love story it opens its doors to.

New England in December is a special world. Wreath-topped lampposts shine, balsam garland drapes across picket fences, and fresh snow dusts the land. Then there are the decorated houses: saltboxes, Victorians, farmhouses, Tudors. Tiny lights shimmer on front porches; candles glow in paned windows. But one imposing stone colonial towers dark in the night.

Since moving to town, Millie Ives has heard hushed whisperings of that house - and of the mysterious man who lives and works there. A chance happening leads Millie to this Mr. Winter's spellbinding shop just past the bell tower. Surprisingly, he's not who she thought he'd be.

As the month unfolds, both find themselves on each other's minds and in each other's hearts. Yet when Millie tries to bridge a gap in his life, she risks losing him. Unless the spirit of the season can bring them back together at the Winter House.

LOVED IT!!

I did not want the story to end! Millie and Dean's story was just lovely and refreshing. I love the small town feel of the story, as with all the other books. A good holiday book to start the holidays off real nice. Can't wait for the next one!!

Good Story but Narration was Annoying

I’ve come to realize that I don't like it when a man tries to do a woman's voice or vice versa. There are very few that can pull it off well. I don't think it was done well in this recording. I found myself distracted by the narrators.

Voice

This was a good heartwarming book but the female voices especially of Milllie was grating - instead of a women it sounds like a windy 4 year old

Heartwarming

the story was beautiful and I loved everything about it except the voice of Milli. whenever I heard her voice I imagined a middle-aged woman like a grandmother or loving aunt. She didn't sound like a young woman falling in love.

Good book, not a fan of the narrator

This was a sweet Christmas story and I enjoyed it, but I would have enjoyed it more with a different narrator. There were parts when the narration was so bland that I could have mistaken this book for some sort of documentary -it just seemed like there was no emotion behind it. The voice that the narrator used for Millie sounded like some sort of fake “old lady” voice a guy would use to impersonate their mother or grandmother… I would have enjoyed it more with a different narrator, or perhaps just reading the book.

Millie’s voice

I’m sorry but Millie’s voice almost made me want to stop listening to. Too timid. Loved everything else

Wonderful Town and Caring People

It was good to come back to Addison Cove. The place is so welcoming to newcomers. Softening hearts...overcoming misunderstanding...finding love- always a good mixture!

A house becomes a home again

Whether it is a sense of obligation or the thought of his father selling the family business and home in Addison, Dean Winter finds himself leaving the West coast and returning to New England.
Millie Ives has been dumped by her boyfriend, is out out of a job and has no where to live. She travels to New England and decides to start over in the sweet town of Addison.
Christmas in Addison with all its decorations, twinkling lights and small town events is the perfect place for Millie and Dean to both find what they need in this delightful holiday book. Author, Joanne DiMaio has written another book describing her love of New England with her beautiful scenery depictions and characters that any reader could love. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and comments are my opinion.
