Publisher's summary

A Nantucket shopkeeper discovers that Christmas is the perfect occasion to make unexpected friendships, to warm the coldest of hearts - and maybe even to find love.

Christina Antonioni is preparing for the holidays at her Nantucket toy shop, unpacking last-minute shipments and decorating for her loyal Christmas shoppers. But when her Scrooge of a landlord, Oscar Bittlesman, raises her rent, it seems nearly impossible for Christina to continue business on the wharf.

Even so, Christina firmly believes there may be a warm heart underneath Oscar's steely exterior. When she bonds with Wink, his sweet, young granddaughter who frequents the shop, it becomes clear that perhaps he isn't so cold after all. And with the help of Wink's uncle, who happens to be a charming (and extremely wealthy) bachelor, this may be the best Christmas any of them could have ever imagined. Nancy Thayer's enchanting Nantucket setting provides the perfect backdrop for this holiday love story.

Just what I needed

I’ve run out of books from my favorite authors (Emily March, Robyn Carr, Susan Wiggs, etc) and needed a pick me up, feel good story. I absolutely loved this book! In summary without spoilers- this is a story about a woman trying to save her business, falling in love, and being there to support her community. The characters are charming, humorous, authentic, unpredictable, and mentally strong. The main character is smart, independent woman running a small toy shop in Nantucket. Her parents both died the previous year, and this is her first Christmas alone, but she doesn’t present like the victim or have a “poor ole me” mentality. She’s mentally strong, forgiving, generous, determined, funny, and quirky. I really enjoyed how this book was low stress but still had entertaining moments and surprising moments through out the book. Thank you Nancy for a great book! I want to buy your other Christmas books with my audible credits but they are short books so it may be more cost effective to buy the print version. It would be neat if you could package your Christmas books (at least the two shorter ones) together for one audible credit so I felt like I was getting my money’s worth. Thanks again for the beautiful story!

Wonderful Christmas Story!!

I loved this book. After Christmas I was still in the mood for Christmas stories so I download this book. As always, Nancy Thayer does not disappoint. This book is cozy without being sappy, there are twists and turns that keep your interest and the characters are so likeable! I enjoyed everything about this book, including the narration.

I adore all things Nantucket for so many reasons. Christmas is just another reason and this audiobook was a great listen foe the season.

Soooo boring

I wanted a cozy Christmas romance, but this was mostly a detailed description of every little mundane thing this lady did during the day. I also don’t understand what any of the romantic pairs saw in each other.

Did not enjoy this story at all

The main character is a fickle woman. I normally like these “hallmark movie” type of stories, but she was more than I could handle. I also think this would have been better with a different narrator. The narrator had an older woman voice and it made the whole story seem off, especially when she was speaking for Christina.

Silly

What a silly novel this was. I just wasn't sold on the whole premise that a 10% rent increase would cause such devastation to the businesses in the sheds given the roaring trade they all seemed to be doing. Apart from that, most of the story was just ridiculous. There were continuity problems - and problems with the plot. Not recommended.
