Publisher's summary

Warrior. Survivor. Daughter of the North.

From the moment she is born, Brighid fights to survive in the wastelands of Nordica as a clanless one. But when a new power arrives offering a trial to join the Nordic warriors, Brighid enters, hoping to rise above her station. Soon she becomes one of their fiercest fighters and joins the war against the south.

Kaeden carries the blood of the ancient Eldaran race in his veins but turns away from his heritage after the death of his parents. Years later, he is called back to his homeland and invited to be a healer for the southern forces. With the help of an old mentor, the power inside of him starts to awaken. However, his life is turned upside down when a mighty warrior of the Nordic forces is captured.

As Kaeden interacts with the enemy, he discovers there is a darkness behind the Nordic Wars, one that is manipulating the people of the north. But who will believe him? And is there a power strong enough to break the hold of this hidden adversary? Or will the world burn in the flames of war?

Gripping Viking Fantasy

Similar vibe as Morgan L Busse’s Ravenwood Saga. I’m eager to get started on book two!

You won’t put it down

Soooo good! Starts out a little slow but then really picks up. I couldn’t stop listening. The narration was great as well. The story became more and more action packed as it went along and I really became invested in different characters, they were very well developed. I can not wait for the next book!

Excellent read!

I love how Busse integrated Viking lore with fairy power and tied it all to Christian beliefs. Amazing melding of cultures and traditions. Each character has high stakes and motivations. Good versus evil story with fantastic depth of character.

It’s going to be hard to wait for the next book

The story is somewhat like the Ravenswood saga in that the human beings have gifts which are somewhat like super powers. There are also angelic beings which are supernaturally gifted. There are fallen angels, or dark elves perhaps, who try to enslave humans in order to gain power. Humans and angels, or perhaps they are faeries, both have children which carry on their gifts and traditions. The story is about two protagonists, a woman and a man, who both have to learn to use their unique gifts to serve & help others.

Much of the first few chapters are world building, maybe a bit slow, but they were necessary. I liked the story A LOT and can’t wait for the next. The narrator did a good job. A great listen!
