About this listen

What do you do when you know your world is about to shatter around you? Do you run toward the change or try to hold on to the broken pieces so that everything doesn’t fall apart?

I knew it was coming. We’d had time to ready ourselves, but nothing could have prepared us for the fall out. No one warned me our enemies would make me the pawn in their game. No one saw just how broken I would become.

Now it’s up to me to pick up the broken pieces and wield them against the ones who made me this way. Believe me… they are all going to pay.

This audiobook is part of the Shadow Walkers Saga. It can be listened to as a stand-alone, but will contain spoilers to the first books in the saga.

fans of supernatural will love this entire series

if you love Supernatural , you're going to love this entire series which included The Shadow Weavers within the Seven Realms Saga.
this

This story is about Fallon and also a continuation of the overall 7 Realms series.

*** note, you really should read all the previous books starting with a Crown of Blood & Bone. This book has spoilers to the Shadow Walkers Saga featuring Fallons bestie , Remy, and her family of Hunters.

I really love that Sloane Murphy shows her readers a different POV from the Remys books.

Fallon is a powerful witch who's full potential hasn't been revealed yet.

I'm completely sucked into this series and can't wait for the next book on audio!

David Black is newish to me and I like his voice for this series.
Elise Hoffman though?? That girl stole the show!! I'm girl crushing on her amazing voice ability and allllll the accents! She's a 1-woman show who could've easily voiced all the characters in this book. I am, however, thankful that it's a dual narration because David's voice as Colt?? H.O.T!!

Paranormal Romance

Witch's Curse by Sloane Murphy is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Elise Hoffman and David Black. This is the first book in The Shadow Weaver series.

The beginning of the book does states "This series is part of a bigger world but can be read as a standalone series." I have not read the Shadow Walker series yet and I would personally recommend reading it before starting this series. I say this because the book felt really choppy in the beginning where we were getting recaps from the events that happened to Remy in that series. But once we moved on to what was happening to mainly Fallon and Colt it because easier to read and I didn't feel like I was missing information.

The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn't a surprise since it's the first book in the series. I look forward to the next book in the series Hunter's Heart to be released on audio so I can get more of Fallon's story.

Elise and David did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

Loved Colt even more after this!

So I wasn’t sure what to expect on Fallon’s spinoff story from the main series with Remy and her guys. I did enjoy it and it made me love some of the characters even more than I did in the original series. I will say a good amount was repeated, which is why I didnt give it 5 stars. I mean I understand why but it did make some spots slow because we already went through some of that already (like same POVs as before). I did like getting some insight into some of the other perspectives, more insight with Fallon with her time in the Shadow Realm, with her relationship with Deacon. I liked the additional passenger (if you know you know haha) and hope the group can help Fallon with that issue in book 2. I am so nervous getting to the devastating part from the original series but I have that to look forward to in book 2 haha. I cant wait for more Deacon and more steam with Fallon and Colt. I loved seeing their back story and Colt being her support and fighting for them once he got his head on straight. So adorable, their love story ❤️

I really enjoyed the female narrator, I dont think I have listened to anything by her before. She did a fabulous job with Fallon’s accent. I would give her 4-4.5 stars. I was not a huge fan of the male narrator a lot of the time, so I would give him 3.5 stars (overall the narration for the audiobook I would give 4/5 stars). I think for me he was too whiney for Colt sometimes, when he did other accents it wasnt the strongest or again felt more whiney. I think what got me in this one was some of the side characters accents changed quite a bit throughout the audiobook (big example would be Kain). I would have thought the author and team would have given them feedback to try and keep to the accent in the 1st three books in Remy’s series, to try and be consistent). Overall good narration, would still listen to the rest of the series when they eventually come out.

Gonna dive into book 2 on ebook since audio isn’t available since I want to get to Morgan and the next generation audiobooks (It is a little frustrating which audiobooks are available vs not, since the author provided a recommended reading order and that means some of the newer audiobooks are super far down the list. Still enjoy this world, just wish I was a faster reader haha.

Lots of drama in this fantasy but is still boring

Lots of drama in this fantasy but still somehow boring
3 stars overall, 3 stars story, 4 stars narration

This book reads like an angsty New Adult urban fantasy, and only about 20% of it is romantic. Judging from other books in the larger Seven Realms series (this is book 7 in it) by this Sloane Murphy, this book is probably the first in the “Shadow Weaver” trilogy in which the heroine acquires 3 or 4 male love interests over time. This novel is told in first person present tense mostly from the perspective of the witch heroine Fallon and about 30% from the perspective of her love interest Colt. The book contains lots of drama but somehow still seems boring. It also ends on a cliffhanger. Trigger Warning Note: the book contains some bloody violence, torture, and PTSD.

I have several issues with this book. First, the book doesn’t seem necessary to have been written because it is rehashing the plot of Remy’s Book 1 (and maybe books 2-4 as well) in the Seven Realms series. I think just get a few new plot points experienced by Fallon, Remy’s best friend. This book contains plenty of spoilers for Remy’s books. The only other book in the larger series that I have read is “The Shadow Queen” (Book 10), and I gave that book 5 stars. That Shadow Queen Book is totally worth reading, unlike this one.

My second issue with this audiobook is the character of Colt and how obnoxious the male narrator David Black makes him sound. Colt is an arrogant paranormal “Hunter” with tattoos and a tongue piercing. He knew Fallon had feelings for him for years, but he still dumped her after their first one-night-stand. He is self-absorbed, callous, and spews 4-letter words with annoying frequency because he has a limited vocabulary. Colt definitely did not deserve Fallon’s love. In addition, the narrator David Black made Colt sound more obnoxious than he had to be; a 3-star performance. Also, Colt had lived all his life in New Orleans, but the narrator gave him no trace of a southern accent. I ended up skipping Colt’s chapters, and it worked out well.

I did enjoy a few things about the book. I do love Fallon and how the female narrator Elise Hoffman performed her voice and thoughts, a 5-star performance. Elise Hoffman appropriately gave her a New Orleans or East Texas accent since Fallon is the daughter of a famous witch in New Orleans. Fallon used curse words occasionally in reasonable situations. The narrator speaks fairly slowly, so I listened at 1.2x speed. Later on in the book, Fallon got on my nerves a little bit because of her inaction about something. The cliffhanger did leave me curious about Fallon’s future, and I might read the rest of the trilogy.

I requested and received a free audiobook code from the #Flock group, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #Flock, #AudiobookObsession

Gets better as the story rolls along

This is the first book in a new series. While it can be listened to as a stand alone I highly recommend reading her other series first. This one has characters from previous series and it follows their journey too. I felt it was choppy and I actually looked to see if I had somehow skipped ahead since what I was listening to made no sense to me. This issue is only in the beginning and after a bit it settles nicely into the rest of the story.

I did enjoy it once it got going. It has a lot and I mean a Lot of characters. So the storyline is very active and told from different characters point of view. It is full of paranormal characters so if you enjoy that this story is for you.

I did listen to this on audio. The two narrators are new to me. I felt they did an excellent job and could easily listen to them again.

Awesome spin off

This was an awesome sequel. The narrator is great. She makes me believe the characters. Nice tie ends to the main books. I’m looking forward to the next read.

A witchy romance!

So this book is actually part of the Shadow Walkers Saga.

However, I overlooked that fact and managed to enjoy this as a standalone.

I loved Fallon as a character! Very well fleshed out and relatable

The narrator's David and Elise did justice to the character's voices.

I enjoyed this audio and will definitely be listening to the Shadow Walker series now
