About this listen

Though the young Warchief Thrall ended the demon curse that had plagued his people for generations, the orcs still wrestle with the sins of their bloody past. As the rampaging Horde, they waged a number of devastating wars against their perennial enemy - the Alliance. Yet the rage and bloodlust that drove the orcs to destroy everything in their path nearly consumed them as well. Long ago, on the idyllic world of Draenor, the noble orc clans lived in relative peace with their enigmatic neighbors, the draenei.

But the nefarious agents of the Burning Legion had other plans for both of the unsuspecting races. The demon-lord Kil’jaeden set in motion a dark chain of events that would succeed not only in eradicating the draenei, but would forge the orc clans into an single, unstoppable juggernaut of hatred and destruction. An original tale of magic, warfare, and heroism based on the best-selling, award-winning electronic game series from Blizzard.

For the Horde (spoiler free)

As someone who fell in love with the stories of Azeroth, I was even more taken by the story of the beginnings of the Horde.

If you’re new to Warcraft lore, this is an excellent starting point. Meet the characters who birthed the heroes we know today in the game and witness their choices, both good and evil, that lead toward what we see today in the game.

Brought life to the story of the horde

let me just say, wow. excellently written, spoken and acted. This reading truly brought me into draenor, right into the heart of the horde. I truly felt like a frost wolf orc looking at my doom. This reading brought life to my favorite game

A lot of fun

A good read, and was insightful into some backstory leading into Warcraft one, and the ending leading into the burning crusade.

Good story performance was okay.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the story but sadly I must say the narrator not one of the best of all the World of Warcraft books that I've listened to. I have all the respect in the world for Christie Golden as I love her stories in the way she writes but I will admit her performance in reading it not quite as good as many of the others but I am still very happy that this book finally came to audiobook, I would still recommend.

Sweet

Great book! Christie is an amazing author. Would've preferred a different person to read the book though.

A Masterpiece.

I found myself on the edge of sleep many times I has listened but did not want to fall to its clutches, So continue I did thus I did not sleep much during my time with this book. My only petty criticism is that the Words of Thrall were not spoken by Chris Metzen himself who voices the Character in Game and for whome Mrs. Golden dedicates this work to. As I begin the journey deep into the lore of a universe I hold very dear, it is with enthusiastic ears and a hungering desire that I look forward. I look forward to not only the next Book by Golden but the next book which shares a universe so vividly brought to life by such a skilled author.

decent

Christie Golden is a excellent author, and this is a great book.
but it would have been better in my opinion that a male narator had read the story, considering that theres only one female character in the entire book.
