Publisher's summary

Fran Clark’s grandmother has passed away, and she is assigned the task of going through her Gram’s personal items, deciding what to keep and what to discard. As she is going through desks and drawers, she comes across a key that opens Gram’s trunk, which is filled with quilts made by generations of Clark women. The key was one she had always loved as a child. Filled with nostalgia, Fran spreads the quilts across the room, and while shedding tears for the loss of her grandmother, she suddenly finds herself transported to 1875, and she is not even sure how she got there. Scared and alone, she must find a way to fit into this new world.

As Fran struggles to find her way back to her own time period, she learns of a new way of living in the post-Civil War era, one of hard work with very little time for relaxation, and lacking any modern amenities, but as she begins to adjust, she discovers a different side to herself. She finds strength and a self-confidence she did not know she had, and she learns that two different men find her beautiful, something she had never thought about herself before.

When the time has come to make a decision to stay or leave, she is torn. If she stays, she will have a contented and fulfilled life, but she will be living a lie, and she risks hurting those she has grown to love and who love her. And if she goes, even though she will once again be back with her family, she will have to deal with all of the pressures of a modern life, and she will be facing it alone, with no one to love.

Can Fran find a way back to her own time? Does she want to? Travel back in time with Fran and decide for yourself what you would do.

Original and entertaining...but...

Although I enjoyed the potential of the storyline, I thought there were too many holes in the story, also too many times when Fran was too meek and unintelligent and needy for a 21st-century woman. I would have preferred a strong woman as the heroine. The potential of this storyline was incredible, but marks were missed throughout to make it more engaging. Even so, it was certainly better than those contemporary romance books that are written en masse and are really erotica genre. This book was definitely not that. Narration was stilted, with little variation in the characters' voices. If I decide to follow-up with book 2, I think I will borrow that from the library and read it.

Revisiting the Past

This time-slip story takes Fran Clark back to her grandparent’s farm, the place Fran cherished all her life. Everything is familiar to her because she loved the farm and learned how to perform the main things. She could milk the cow, feed the animals, gather the eggs, get water from the pump, and ride a horse. She also could skin and prepare a rabbit - yuck!
Fran is mistaken for the new schoolteacher, which she also did in her present life.
There’s a love affair that develops nicely with a luscious HEA.
It is my first time hearing Belinda Lams and her narration was good.

Wow Great Book

I love time travel books and this one this one kept my interest to the end. Then a cliff hanger making me want the next book in the series right away.

I love the old fashioned family connection with grandparents and her close knit new community. The artistic connection with quilting and and dreamy idealism of the past was fun too. I won’t give too much away!

I very much enjoyed this book series

I very much enjoyed this 5 book series; A Slip in Time. It was a relaxing series to listen to as bedtime reading. O’Brien designed creative ways to incorporate the time travel element into the storyline of two sisters, Francine & Dori. I eagerly await additional books

Corny but sweet

The reader’s lisp really bugged me after a bit. The story was okay, but not very believable. I had so many other thoughts as to why experience’s happened in the story. Love the genre but this one was just okay.

THE BEST TIME TRAVEL SERIES OUT THERE!

This series is so good!!!! There are 12 books in this series and each one compliments the next! The story is so well written. If you want to feel apart of a small town in the mid 1800’s this series is for you! I often listen to it when I am on road trips or just running errands. I feel as if I’m part of the family! Definitely start reading this today!

Great as a youth book

Written for someone much younger than me. Plot simplistic and too many holes in story.
