Publisher's summary

If "Who am I?" is the question you're asking, Rachel Jankovic doesn't want you to "find yourself" or "follow your heart". Those lies are nothing to the confidence, freedom, and clarity of purpose that come with knowing what is actually essential about you. And the answer to that question is at once less and more than what you are hoping for.

Christians love the idea that self-expression is the essence of a beautiful person, but that's a lie, too. With trademark humor and no-nonsense practicality, Rachel Jankovic explains the fake story of the self, starting with the inventions of a supremely ugly man named Sartre (rhymes with "blart"). And we - men and women, young and old - have bought his lie of the best self, with terrible results.

Thankfully, that's not the end of our story; You Who: Why You Matter and How to Deal with It takes the identity question into the nitty-gritty details of everyday life. Here's the first clue: Stop looking inside, and start planting flags of everyday faithfulness. In Christianity, the self is always a tool and never a destination.

Highly recommend ...

... for every Christian navigating the deep water of life in 2019.

YouWho is an incredibly thought-provoking and clarifying work on practical Christian living in the current culture.

Rachel is winsome and wise, hilarious and honest. The content is so helpful in peeling back the layers to see where (and how badly) we've veered from fundamental Truth, and to return our focus to Christ.

Poor folks around me know that I cannot stop talking about it! I loved the audio book so much, that I also bought a paper copy.

Nothing held back

I absolutely loved how Rachel put it all out there and kept pointing the listener to Christ over and over again. The background on the types of thinking that have filtered into our everyday lives was intriguing and revealing. So glad for this listen!
I actually had to slow down to .9x just so I could take it all in.

If you are reading this review, I recommend the book to you.

The premise sounds kind of dry and boring.... but this book is neither. Short chapters that pack a lot of punch. Yes, you will get a few philosophy lessons, but you will ultimately learn the truth of your identity in Christ and how to live that out day to day. P.S. It doesn't involve washing your face.

Great summary of what ails us as moderns

Rachel is very clear and up front about revealing the lies we have all bought into without even knowing it. We breathe them in and hear them repeated again and again until we don’t even think about questioning them, it is just the way things “are”. But truly, it isn’t. She does an excellent job of pointing back to the truth again and again until it begin to shine, now we must go forth and continue to shine that truth to ourselves, our families, our church, and our world.

balm to my weary momma soul

Thankful for this - though tough to swallow at times...& the occasional sarcasm wasn’t my fav- but I *can not* recommend it enough to women.

Especially mommas of little ones who feel they are drowning from the needs of everyone around them and are struggling with ‘self care’. Buy it! and listen to the audio book while you do the dishes :)
