About this listen

My name is Penny Mulligan and my life is a mess.

After a disastrous marriage that left me with three perfect, rowdy boys and an ex-husband whose middle name might as well be Trouble, I’ve got more than enough testosterone in my life. I’m absolutely not getting involved with anyone.

Besides, at the end of the day when I collapse into bed, I’m too exhausted to think sexy thoughts. Except maybe about the one man who makes my life just a little easier…Mr. Wednesday, a.k.a. Dillon Henry.

Handsome, charming, thoughtful—the man is fantasy material.

And not just because he brings me my favorite coffee every Wednesday when he meets with my boss.

I’ll be ready to date again…someday…maybe after my boys are in college and I finally have the energy to think about myself. For now, I’m content to stick to my late-night fantasies about a certain coffee-bringing, suit-wearing flirt.

At least, that’s what I tell myself until Dillon Freaking Henry shows up on my doorstep in my hometown, demanding that I let him out of the friend zone.

He’s not intimidated by the fact that I’m a package deal or that my calendar is chaos or that my ex is a monumental pain in the…neck. Nope. Dillon is determined to change my mind.

Part of me almost hopes he can.

A book boyfriend for the books!

Dillon Henry's favorite day of the week is Wednesday - it's the day he gets to see his friend's assistant, Penny Mulligan. He brings her coffee, they chat, and it's the highlight of his week.
Penny lives for those Wednesdays too, because her life is a disaster of gigantic proportions and everything feels like it's out of her control. Her ex-husband's cheating and alcoholism  has thrown her life (and, consequently, her three boys' lives) into a spinning circle of  hurt, disappointment and shame. She can't bring anyone into this mess. Plus, her boys will always come first and she'll fiercely protect them.
What she is not counting on is that Dillon knows she's it for him - and he knows and embraces that she is a package deal.
One ride to a kid, one blizzard and Dillon is stuck in her town, witnessing her chaotic life up close. And to Penny's (and the boys') surprise, he won't leave.
I went into this audiobook completely blind and I was utterly surprised. I thought I was getting a rom com but was delivered a beautiful, poignant book about love, dedication, loyalty and perseverance.
Narrated dual style by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais, they even made me tear up a bit. Samantha's performance as the determined single mom who desperately needs a break is heartwarming and touching. Connor brings all the swoon as the man who has been pining for THE one for three years and has finally decided it's time she gives him a chance.
It's a standalone, but now I want to go back and meet everyone in the Westbrook series! Lovely audiobook!

Good but not my cup of tea

Storyline is about a single mother of three boys. She lives out in a small town but drives in to work a city job as a secretary. Her bosses friend comes in every Wednesday for meetings and brings her coffee. They both like each other and when he ask her out. She shoots him down. More than a few times. Her life is crazy busy with kids and abusive ex husband. The guy will not give up and wants her to give into him so her can love her and the kids.

So the baseline story is great. She is a tough mom who does not give up. He is a love sick man who believes in a life with her. They go through some trials in the story. The characters are not bad. Really great in most ways.
The one big thing that lost me. The book drags on and on. At points in the story, felt like not much was happening. Or more like they kept going back to the same issue rather than show progress. Or Really slow progress. But the story is great but I felt like it could have been wrapped up sooner and it would still be awesome. Add in some twist and turns to the story to have you guessing then it be the best.
That is just my feelings on it. I like a book with some action parts to get my blood going. Have me on the edge of my seat. The story was sweet. Little steam. But a good book. Just not my cup of tea.
Narrators did great job.
