Not a zombie book, a runners book

I love, I mean LOVE zombie fiction. This was not it. It was a runners book with zombies sprinkled in. I listened to the first book because just when I would be getting into it the main character would fish about how great it is to be a runner and be missing toe nails It was terrible. Slow and terrible. Only runners could appreciate this book. Other people who just like to run, this book is not for you. Going to try to get my credit back.

Bicycles

Did you know that the Bicycle is the number one form of transportation during an apocalypse, low energy impact compared to running, silent compared to a car and you can carry a reasonable amount of supplies. This story is the perfect example of why using a bicycle is the best way.

Remember that time....

it's just non-stop marathon flashbacks.....I get it you ran... it's so boring....you forget it's a zombie book." I sneak up to the edge of the road, and there I see a zombie wearing pink... when I did the delta 190mile super run naked with one leg and a pink hair pin"
....omg STFU.

T o S l o o o o o o o o o w!

This book has a great premise. But it moves too slow, with hugely unnecessary dialogue and descriptions. I didn't even get through book one. I got to hour six and I couldn't take it.

Not what I expected

It is an interesting choice to offer the first book in seven different series. I have never seen this done before, but it did expose me to the authors stories. I found Camille Picott to be an excellent offer of this genre. I am not an athlete and certainly not a runner but I am so happy I tried this collection. Beware you will need to go get the rest of the series after you get hooked. The Undead Ultra series was my favorite so far. The writing is excellent, the characters a really well developed and relatable (strong female lead), the plot was quite good, and the zombie threat believable. The characters learned from mistakes and utilized their strengths. I also enjoyed the Afterworld Apocalypse series (but again, while the fourth book is out for some reason it is not yet on audible and book three had a massive cliff hanger. I don’t love spending my credits on books only 6-7 hours in length. But I really do like Picott and will continue through this collection to check out all her series.

Review for Undead Ultra

This is a set of "first in the series" books. I discovered this when I listened to Undead Ultra first and Afterworld next. I found the next Undead Ultra book on Audible and quickly listened to all of them! They are really great! Love the characters and the unique ultra running connections made thru the series. The last book in the series, I had to go to Amazon Kindle and use my credit there, since Audible said it was not available. I'm reading Afterworld book 2 on my Kindle. Now that Undead is over, I'll start the next "first" book in this set and see where it takes me. I like that the worlds in each book are different, the zombies are different, the characters are different.
