About this listen

A zombie outbreak forces a long-distance runner into the ultimate test of endurance.

It was just another training day for Niles. Getting ready for a one-hundred-mile footrace takes dedication.

Twenty-five miles into his run and Niles is faced with the unthinkable.

A campground overrun. People dead. Corpses reanimated, eating the living.

With his skills and training, Niles could outrun the zombies. But when he stops to help two hunters, he needs to slow his pace and teach them to run.

Can endurance running be taught on the go? Will they make it out alive?

Dawn Patrol is the prequel to the Undead Ultra series. This action-packed zombie adventure takes running for your life to the extreme.

Great intro

Hope to see these characters pop up in a book on the main series. Great story arch and definitely a crazy way to escape the 🧟‍♀️s.

nice start

this was a nice start. story was good. but I did not like the way it was presented, third person narrative. I felt as if I was reading the outline of the writers thought of his book. once I got past that I enjoyed the plot.

Running as a Skill in the Zombie Apocalypse

After listening to 'Undead Ultra', I wanted to see how Picott ties the prequel into the main story line, and purchased this book. I listened to this after Book 1 and feel it works well either before or after 'Undead Ultra'. It acts as a stand-alone in the universe created by Camille Picott.

In this short story, Niles, an ultra runner, is on a training run when he encounters what he can only conclude are zombies. He rescues a father and son from the pursuing horde, all the while teaching running techniques to keep them ahead of the zombies.

The story is short but filled with suspense from beginning to end. The story is mostly about running, but Picott does include a few dramatic and emotional touches in the action-packed dash from the zombies. This is a great introduction to the larger 'Undead Ultra' universe. Narration by Al Kessel is good.

Recommended.
