This was the novel that inspired the radio drama which sent the United States into a state of panic. In this work we revisit the roots of this classic in its original form.

At a dinner party in Richmond, the host tells an astonishing story of his travels into the future, where, at first, it seems that man has moved on to a higher plane of existence - suffering and war seem to have been eliminated. But in fact there are two races living on the Earth: the Eloi, a leisured, decadent, androgynous group; and the Morlocks, an underground tribe of bestial workers.

While this riveting tale was intended to be a commentary on evolution, divine creation, and the tension between human nature and culture, modern readers familiar with genetic engineering will marvel at Wells prediction of the ethical issues raised by producing “smarter” human beings or bringing back extinct species.

The Star by H.G. Wells is about a strange luminous object which erupted into the solar system, after disturbing the orbit of Neptune. The object creates havoc with Jupiter and attracts the moon away from the earth, whose surface suffers much upheaval. It all began wit the research of two scientists, Mr. Bensington and Professor Redwood, into the principles of growth in living matter. The fruit of their labor was a substanceknown as "Herakleophorbia IV", but their own private term for it was "The Food of theGods" because of its very special properties. Their tests produced a baby chick large enough to be mistaken for a buzzard, and when the substance was consumed by rats, they grew bigger than horses.

The novel begins with humans watching the skies closely, fascinated with the worlds beyond Earth’s atmosphere. "A Story of the Stone Age" is a short story written in 1897 by H. G. Wells. The story was featured in three parts between May and August 1897 in The Idler magazine, and was later released in collected editions. The story is set during the Stone Age, and tells of a caveman named Ugh-lomi, who bonds with the young woman Eudena and kills his rival, the de facto tribal leader Uya. Whilst in exile, Ugh-lomi becomes the first man to ride a horse, and to combine stone and wood to fashion an axe.
