"The Music of Erich Zann." Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) is a novelist famous for his horror stories, fantasy and science fiction. Although he was not famous during his lifetime, his work is now considered a classic of literature. Lovecraft's work has influenced many authors, including Stephen King, who considers him "the greatest craftsman of the classic horror story of the 20th century."

"The Book" is an unfinished short story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft, believed to have been written in late 1933. It was first published in the journal "Leaves" in 1938, after Lovecraft's death. In the story fragment, the narrator is given an ancient book by a strange bookseller, and when he takes it home and examines it, weird and sinister events ensue. In October 1933, Lovecraft wrote in a letter: I am at a sort of standstill in writing disgusted at much of my older work, and uncertain as to avenues of improvement.

Lavinia Whateley, a deformed and unstable albino mother, gives birth to her hideous son, Wilbur Whateley, in an isolated village called Dunwich. The Whateley's come in three varieties; Stable, semi stable, and decrepit. Lavinia, Wilbur and the grandfather are of the latter variety. The grandfather has a very unhealthy interest in dark rituals and witchcraft, which he passes on to Wilber.

Walter Gilman did not know when he moved into the Witch House that had been inhabited by old Keziah Mason, convicted of witchcraft in 1692 that his dreams would be haunted by Keziah and her evil friends. Somehow Keziah Mason escaped and disappeared from Salem Goal where she was being held. The goaler, or jailer went absolutely mad. Residents of the legend-haunted city of Arkham, claimd to see old Keziah Mason and the small white- fanged furry thing that accompanied Keziah, along with an eerie glow when they appeared.

"The Festival" is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft written in October 1923 and published in the January 1925 issue of Weird Tales.
