Saxophonist Branford Marsalis on this edition of Fresh Air. He's just released Footsteps of Our Fathers, the debut release on the artist's own Marsalis Music label. In the nearly two decades that he has released solo albums, he's won two Grammy Awards and was nominated for a third in 1995. He was the first band leader for Jay Leno's The Tonight Show and appeared on the show from 1992-1995.

Dr. Shari Fink's new book is called War Hosptial: A True Story of Surgery and Survival. It's about the group of doctors who treated patients in Srebrenica, Bosnia, during wartime, under the most extreme conditions.

Film director Joel Schumacher and actor Greg Kinnear on this edition of Fresh Air. Joel Schumacher's films include St. Elmo's Fire, The Client, A Time to Kill, and Batman Forever. His latest film, Tigerland, is now out on video. It's about a group of army recruits in training who are about to be shipped off to Vietnam. The film was made on a low budget in 28 days, on 16 millimeter film and mostly with hand-held cameras.

Comedian Colin Quinn on this edition of Fresh Air. He was the Weekend Update anchor on Saturday Night Live from 1998 to 2000, and was known for his satirical coverage of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. He's now starring in Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.

Hear Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire on this edition of Fresh Air. Win Butler and Regine Chassagne are the husband and wife team who lead the art-rock band Arcade Fire, which hails from Montreal. They have two albums to their credit: Neon Bible and their 2004 debut album, Funeral. The band is made up of seven performers whose instruments, at times, include Dobro, hurdy-gurdy, piano, sax, violin, harpsichord, xylophone, and Caribbean steel drums.

Biomedical ethicist Arthur Caplan, Ph. D. on this edition of Fresh Air. Host Terry Gross and Caplan will discuss human embryos that are being grown by researchers doing stem cell research.

Former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Bill Bradley and Doctor Muriel Gillick on this edition of Fresh Air. Bill Bradley discusses the state of politics today. He published his memoir, Time Present, Time Past in 1996. In addition to his political career, Bradley was also a star basketball player with the New York Knicks. His latest book is called The Journey from Here. Doctor Muriel Gillick talks about the problems associated with care for the elderly.

We'll listen back to an interview with Crile about his book Charlie Wilson's War: The Extraordinary Story of the Largest Covert Operation in History. A film based on the back will be released this month.

Ugandan Aids activist Noverine Kaleeba on this edition of Fresh Air. She works with UNAids, a United Nations organization in Geneva. She's also on the Ugandan committee on Aids, and founded The Aids Support Organization in Uganda. Kaleeba lost her husband to the disease; four of her siblings are HIV positive as are a number of their children. Kirk Varnedoe on this archive edition of Fresh Air. Ed Harris is starring as Jackson Pollack in a new movie about the artist's life. We'll feature an interview from our archives about Pollock. Varnedoe was the chief curator for a major Jackson Pollock exhibit that ran last year at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Pollock is widely considered the most challenging and influential American painter of the twentieth century and one of the primary creators in modern art since 1945.

Percussionist Jonathan Haas and writer Jake Arnott on this edition of Fresh Air. Jonathan Haas is a solo timpani player who's garnered international praise. He plays all styles of music, from classical to jazz and rock. He's commissioned pieces for the timpani. He is the principal timpanist for the New York Chamber Symphony, the Aspen Chamber Orchestra, and the EOS Ensemble. He regularly performs with numerous other orchestras worldwide.

Music writer Peter Guralnick, Sun Studios founder Sam Phillips (who died last night in Memphis at age 80), and guitarist and record producer Scotty Moore on this archive edition of Fresh Air. Music writer Peter Guralnick, in part one of his biography of Elvis Presley, Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley, tells much of the story of Elvis' life and people who knew him then.
