Osho responds here to a question relating to meditation, a space of "no-mind": "...meditation covers a very long pilgrimage. When I say 'meditation is witnessing', it is the beginning of meditation. And when I say 'meditation is no-mind', it is the completion of the pilgrimage. Witnessing is the beginning, and no-mind is the fulfillment. Witnessing is the method to reach the no-mind. Naturally you will feel witnessing is easier. It is close to you. But witnessing is only like seeds, and then is the long waiting period."

What is love? Everyone will have a different notion of what love is. In this talk Osho says that love has become the rarest of rare and speaks of learning how to grow love, how to create a climate of love, of gratitude and thankfulness. Learn how to grow love, to overflow with love, to give love rather than living in need masquerading as love. Instead, prepare the ground for love as a natural functioning.

Yah samaj tumhare dukh par ji rahe ho. Yaha jo yashasvi log hai ve tum par tabhi tak niyantran kar sakte hai jab tak tum dukhi ho. Islyie tumhe dhukhi rahna padta hai. Lekin sukh tumhara svabhav hai, tumhare bhitar hi hai. Dukh ke karan dur kar do, sukh pragat hoga.

Political revolutions have never resulted in the changes they promised. Real change can according to Osho only come from a personal rebellion, a rebellion based on "yes" - yes to existence, yes to nature, yes to yourself. Humanity has been guided by traditions which are all life-negative - the results of endless wars, a planet in danger and a humanity losing direction are obvious results of these traditions.

In the final volume of his twelve-part series on The Dhammapada, Osho sheds light on Buddha's insight that every person holds the seed of enlightenment and the power to become their own master.

In alternating chapters Osho comments on specific sutras of Buddha and responds to questions from his audience, deepening the understanding of these timeless works. During his stay in the United States at the time of the Ronald Reagan administration, Osho continues his public talks after a more than three-year period of silence. In his talks he continues to speak of personal transformation and the significance of meditation in daily life. In addition, he also talks extensively on social and political issues, which seem to be more contemporary than ever today. "Priests and Politicians–The Mafia of the Soul" is a title Osho gives to a book after his return to India.

Only once in the history of human consciousness, says Osho, has a thing like Zen come into being. In Zen: Its History and Teachings, the noted mystic explains that Zen has no rituals, no chanting, no mantras, no scriptures - only short, evocative parables and teachings that make it ideal for the modern man. Using his characteristic humorous, encouraging style, Osho guides through the origins and development of this seminal spiritual tradition that is neither religion nor dogma nor creed.

“You are miserable because you have decided to be miserable” – hard words and difficult so see let alone to admit, that our misery is self-created, a strategy, something that we unconsciously cultivate because it works for us; it all allows us to avoid responsibility. And if we are willing to face it and to take responsibility for our misery we are freed from it. As simple as that.

In the past, science and meditation were considered poles apart, if not adversarial. In this talk, Osho shows science and meditation as complimentary, one the science of the outer, the other the science of the inner. "The World Is on Fire" is the title of the first chapter in this new fifth volume of The Dhammapada, Osho’s contemporary presentation of the sayings of Buddha. What does Buddha mean by fire? He means anguish, anxiety, despair, misery; that's what Buddha means by fire. It is a symbol. Everybody is on fire because everybody is divided, split, schizophrenic. Everybody is on fire because there is great anxiety in the world, the anxiety of: “Am I going to make it this time or not?” Does this sound familiar to you?

There was a time when hypnosis was a recognized door towards meditation. In the Middle Ages hypnosis was condemned alongside witchcraft. That condemnation still lingers on. Osho speaks here about hypnosis as a very helpful tool to enter into meditation.

Most people know of hypnosis from entertainment; often in a negative context of being "hypnotized" to do things they would not do on their own. Lately hypnosis is being used in therapy with a much more positive connotation.
