Commonly considered to be Jack London's tour de force, The Call of the Wild tells the story of Buck, a domesticated dog ripped from a comfortable life when he is stolen from his home on a California ranch. Sold to a pair of men in Canada, Buck is trained as a sled dog in cold wilderness of the Klondike region. However, Buck's ordeal has only begun, as he is forced to learn how to overcome both in the brutal conditions and as the primal social facets as a member of a dog sled pack.

Jack London had quite an issue with the super-rich. Here a group targets the super-rich with a rather unique blackmail scheme. They begin by killing random individuals unless a ransom is paid. Innocent victims die, as the wealthy ignore the warnings until gradually the victims become closer to the target. A very interesting plot.

Buck the dog, a St. Bernard Shepherd mix was living a comfortable life in the Santa Clara Valley of California until the demand for dogs of his type in the Klondike encourages the caretaker to steal him and sell him into a life of misery in the far North. his physical strength, and his strength of character allow him to survive the brutal treatment he receives at the hand of man. The longer he is in the North, the closer he comes to his brother Wolf until the call of the wild transforms him into a wild animal, a Wolf.

This story recounts the legend of Keesh, an Eskimo boy who used "brains not brawn" to defeat a powerful polar bear and save his people from starvation.

"White Fang" (1906) is a novel by Jack London and the name of the book's eponymous character, a wild wolfdog. The story takes place in Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories, Canada, during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush and details White Fang's journey to domestication. Much of "White Fang" is written from the viewpoint of the titular canine character, enabling London to explore how animals view their world and how they view humans. "White Fang" examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of humans.
