People everywhere on earth are now realizing as never before that the well-being of this world rests with its inhabitants. Charles Fillmore was an American mystic known for his contributions to metaphysical interpretations of Biblical scripture. With the help of his wife, he founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement. Prosperity is considered one of the top New Thought books of all time. In it, Fillmore shows how the lessons of Scripture hold the keys to prosperity.

Metaphysical bible students recognize in the Gospel of John a certain spiritual quality that is not found in the other Gospels. Although this is not true of all Bible readers, it may be said that those who look for the mystical find it in the language of this book. The book is distinctive in this respect and is so successful in setting forth metaphysical truths that little interpretation is necessary. Only in a few instances does the original writing conceal the deep truths that the student seeks to discern.

Jesus prophesied the advent of a race of men who would sit with him on 12 thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel. This book explains the meaning of this mystical reference, what and where the 12 thrones are, and what attainments are necessary by man before he can follow Jesus in this phase of his regeneration. The book of Genesis is the key to the Bible. In the New Testament it is quoted 27 times literally and 38 times substantially. It tells in a very few words how God first imaged man and the universe and then turned the development over to Jehovah, who has been in a process of manifestation for ages and eons.

The Father has provided a universal seed substance that responds with magical power to the active mind of man. Faith in the increasing capacity of this seed substance, whether wrapped in visible husks or latent in invisible electrical units, always rewards man with the fruits of his labor.

When Jesus' disciples asked him to teach them how to pray he warned them against making a display of their praying in order to be seen of men. They should retire to their "inner chamber" and pray to the Father who sees in secret and rewards openly. Then he said, "After this manner therefore pray." The Lord's Prayer was given as a sample: not to be followed literally. It is a petition according to the American revision; but according to Fenton's translation it is a series of affirmations.

We are meeting for the purpose of getting a fuller understanding of the powers that are latent within us. Our prayers, our meditations, and all of our words, should tend to the one point in the lesson - strength. Remember, this is a school in which the Lord of the universe is the teacher. As students, we should demonstrate the lesson as we proceed. As students of truth, we know that there is one universal strength, "in you all, through you all and above you all," and that man expresses that strength. And let us be "instant," as Paul says, in our prayer for strength.

When you think of New Thought and its teachings, you may not picture a man born when the U.S. Confederacy still existed. Charles Fillmore, born in 1854, is one of the foremost theologians, philosophers, and thinkers in the movement we call New Thought today. A true American mystic who championed Christ's teachings, Fillmore’s writings and teachings were innovative and well ahead of his time.

We know somewhat of the character of our minds, and we know that this Universal Mind is in very close touch with our minds. There is a universal interchange of minds. We are constantly expressing ourselves, and that mind which we are using is in the Universal Mind, and that Mind is here at all times.

The doctrine of Jesus Christ stands out prominently for its practical application in all the affairs of life. It is not alone a religion, in the limited aspect in which that word is used, but a rule of living, doing, thinking, being.
