Má totiž v plánu je vyměnit za příslušníky své rodiny vězněné v Egyptě. Staš s Nelou naštěstí svým únoscům uprchnou se dvěma otroky, které osvobodí. Jejich nebezpečná a dobrodružná cesta za svobodou, dlouhá tisíce kilometrů, vede přes pouště Egypta a Súdánu až do pralesů středovýchodní Afriky a k pobřeží Indického oceánu.
