Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvin's seminal work on Protestant systematic theology. Highly influential in the Western world and still widely read by theological students today, it was published in Latin in 1536 and in his native French in 1541. John Calvin's sermons on Titus have not been printed in a new edition since 1574. In this edition they have been updated with modern spelling and typeface with notes for obscure words. This is not a new translation but is far more accessible to the modern reader than the original edition. This contains all 17 sermons.

In this sermon, John Calvin ascribes free will to all people in the sense that they act voluntarily, not by compulsion. He elaborated his position by allowing that man has choice, and that it is self-determined and that his actions stem from his own voluntary choosing.

"On the Christian Life" by John Calvin consists of chapters 6 through 10 of book 3 of the Institutes. It includes chapters on "Scriptural arguments exhorting us to holiness", "Self-denial and bearing the cross", "Aspiring to the future life", and "Rightly using the present life and its comforts."

John Calvin (1509-1564) was a theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation. He was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later called Calvinism. This collection of prayers comes from his writings on the book of Hosea.
