Hunters for Hire

He is living proof life can suck. Scraping by paycheck to paycheck, this desperate "nice guy" is hungry for any break. And after John Hunter learns his fiancée is dumping him, his roommate is a vampire, and LA is infested with; werewolves, magic, fairies, and witches, a paid gig to hunt down a rogue chimera seems like his last shot.

When John Hunter finds out he can get paid $5,000 for trapping a rogue chimera, it's game on. Now, he'll have a crash course on the goings-on of the secret underworld and more than a few bruises to prove his mettle. But not all is as straightforward as it may seem. There are those closest to Jonny who are more than they're letting on. And the humans in his life turn out to be the worst kind of monsters. Jonny may be able to save himself, if he wants to save the city from an unspeakable, ancient evil lurking in the shadows, he'll have to catch up fast.

John Hunter isn't bad at this whole monster hunting thing. Along with Shannon and Evan, he's even formed his own company, Hunters for Hire. But events will soon turn deadly as Hunters for Hire is contracted to solve a case so twisted and mysterious, it'll make every conspiracy theory you've heard of sound like just another episode of Golden Girls.

When creatures go bump in the night, he bumps back. (But in the sort of respect-your-space, you're-a-person-too, you-do-you way). Every day, new possibilities of this shadow world emerge; wonderous, unexpected, and, honestly, a bit horrifying. Secrets abound as more factions choose sides in a war to come. The Fallen are using the Chosen to do their will and release the Ancient Ones. It all kind of makes him miss the chicken costume. When a mysterious invitation reaches Jonny's door in the form of a cryptex the plot thickens.

Now that the dust has settled, the Chosen are on the verge of unleashing hell on Earth, and John Hunter still has no idea what he is. Unlucky for Jonny and his new allies, the family Grimm has a solution. Another hybrid exists. And they teach at the Godmother Academy.

Jonny and Hunters for Hire are quickly making a name for themselves in the monster-hunting world. Life is good, but all good things must come to an end. Frankie is about to get a call she feared was coming, a call that alters the trajectory of her relationship with Jonny. In the meantime, the Court procures Hunters for Hire's services to investigate how the Sphere was broken into and who helped Dr. Frankenstein escape. If this wasn't enough, Jonny uncovers more secrets as to what being a hybrid means to him and a foreboding warning from an Archangel.
