War's Edge: Berserkers

In war, there is no second place. To ensure victory, planetary governments employ private armies to help fight their battles. And the Berserkers are the best. As the galaxy's preeminent mercenary force, they are hired by governments and corporations to do jobs that are too tough, too messy, or too deadly for their own forces. Expertly trained and equipped with the most advanced weaponry, they are willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill a contract - if the price is right.

Samuel Rutger was out of options and out of luck. Broke and jobless, he turned to the only option that could provide for his wife and sick daughter. He became a mercenary. When an army of radical cultists, the Immortals, arrive in search of Biodyne’s research on a life-extending drug, Hague and his troops are redirected into the heart of a war-torn planet to rescue Biodyne personnel and their data from a secret research facility called Outpost 16. There he witnesses horrors that shock him to his very core. Surrounded by hostile forces, he must choose between his duty and his conscience.

Desol… Most Berserkers have never heard of the tiny planetoid, a barren and inhospitable wasteland on the edge of the outer rim. The platoon of tankers stationed there wished they'd never seen the place. Hostile miners resent the Berserkers' presence, and the bored troopers have nothing to do but drink and fight. Corporal Jake Murray is one of the best gravtank commanders in the Berserkers, but he's also an undisciplined, unrepentant troublemaker.
