Publisher's summary

As a healer, he knows her body. But it's her heart he wants. For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons---and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalena, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace. Horrified by his lack of control, he left her wanting and furious---and then exiled himself for the better part of a decade. Now, with necromancers threatening his people---and Magdalena nearly their victim---Gideon must face another truth. He and the beautiful, stubborn Magdalena are destined to be together, to share a love as deep and old as time itself. But first he needs to regain her trust. Then he'll have to save her life.

Demon Hot

Would you consider the audio edition of Gideon to be better than the print version?

Audio edition is great; but I'm sure I would have enjoyed the printed version too because the story was so good.

What other book might you compare Gideon to and why?

All the Nightwalker Series are comparably excellent to listen to.

Which character – as performed by Xe Sands – was your favorite?

Gideon!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wanted to listen to it in all one sitting; however, I would have then been disappointed that it was too short.

Any additional comments?

Purchase the Nightwalker series.

Gideon is just such a gentleman.

have read Jacob and now Gideon and I have come to the conclusion that Jacquelyn Frank's writing style is old school literature that has Paranormal Activity and within it. The way she writes makes me feel as though I am listening to Virginia Woolf. It is just written with such beauty and such elegance that I feel as though it does not make sense for her to write about paranormal.

Gideon is a character who am I adore from Jacob. When we are first introduced to him he is arrogant and standoffish and a BIG full of himself however I do understand that he is the oldest of the Demon race so I gave him some liberties there. Magdalegna is such a wonderful written character that when we first introduced to her and Jacob I knew that she needed her happy ending and she would always be Isabella's best friend.

Gideon and Magdalena have a sordid history with one another. After their first real encounter Gideon feels as though he is losing his mind and he goes into seclusion. Magdalena however feels as though Gideon sees her as a child and she develops and animosity towards him. When Gideon comes back to save Jacob and Isabella and the first book Magdalena sees him as this pompous arrogant person. We really find out what is going on with in Gideon's mind and we learned that Gideon, yes is an arrogant pompous person, blames himself for a lot of issues that has arisen within the demon race. 😯😥😭

Over the course of their relationship Gideon gives Magdalena plenty of time to accept the fact that they are mates and even though he is 700 years older than she is he sees her as his equal and not somebody who needs to be babied like Noah sees her. I love their relationship because Gideon is such a sweetheart. He understands all of Magdalena's fears and instead of brushing them off and thinking that she is not justified for those fears he lets her know that he understands and he has fears himself. He allows her plenty of time to get used to the fact that they will be together forever versus just pushing it on her and telling her that she needs to accept it no matter what. Their relationship developed naturally and that is always a plus when it comes to a full-length novel. There are plenty of times where the hero and the heroine fall in lust to love.

The drama that occurred was everything that I needed in life. I kind of saw it coming however I did not completely understand why. The villains made sense however I assumed that the one that was attacking Corrine and Isabella was the wife of the demon who was killed by Isabella back in book 1; that is not the case here. I cannot wait to see what the villains are up to because the villains from book 1 are not the same villains that was in this book. I want to eventually know if the villains in book 1 and the villains in this book are going to congregate together to be just this one super villain group. I still want to know how the necromancers got the demons in the first book. There has to be more than one traitor within the demon race that gave out names in order to capture demons to rule.

Definite must read!!!

I Absolutely loved this one! One of my favorite things about this series so far… Is that unlike some that I have read, that go by character pairings such as Christine Feehan's Carpathians. Where each new book in the series that centers on a couple pretty much there's no mention there's hardly any mention of the previous couple. To the point in my opinion they could be a standalone novels were it not for the family traits of the vampires. However, In this series Nightwalkers This book, particularly picks up where the first one Jacob leaves off. Well approximately, six months later, and although the primary focus of the story appears to be Magdalena and Gideon, the ancient medic. This author does a better job of keeping the other characters involved in the story… As I have read somewhere when they move on to the next couple you never hear about what happened with the last. Those types of series are hard for me because I've become attached to the main characters of the first book in a continually bugs me wanting to know details of what is going on with them as well as the consecutive main characters. That being said, in this book we delve more into the tension between Magdalena and Gideon, the ancient recluse and things become exceedingly clear as to the motivations behind Gideon's decade-long self-imposed seclusion. I absolutely love the way this author brings a depth to her characters. She actually makes you feel for them. At least I did for Gideon and Magdalena for that matter… I don't like giving major spoilers and reviews, but if you're fond of a story where a powerful strong female breaks down walls and helps heal a strong but severely damaged yet dominant male character. This is definitely a story for you.
As far as performance goes Xe Sands is an absolutely excellent narrator. She has a wide range of different actions that she manages perform without making them ridiculous or like I like to put it sounded like a badly dubbed movie her character actions are very believable and she is able to impart emotions in her voices of the characters. Unlike very few that narrators that I've listen to... She brings a depth of emotion to Gideon's voice during some of the most highly charged parts of the book. This is just beyond awesome.... One of my favorite parts is when Magdalena is confronting Gideon about the closed off parts of himself that he's trying to keep from her. Which of course he think this for our own good that she would not want him if he did not hide these things she forces him to let her in. And as he breaks down under her reassuring presence. You can hear a depth of emotion that the narrator brings to the character that without it, I don't think the book or story would be half as enjoyable or rather compelling.

Better than the 1st one

I believe that the author developed the story more in this book than her previous book. the focus this time was on the story not the sexual encounters.

Steamy romance with Demons!

I really enjoyed this 2nd story of the Nightwalker Series. Jacquelyn Frank continues with the world of she created of Demons and other Nightwalkers. In this story we get a little bit more of vampires and lycanthropes.

I enjoyed the romance between the demons Gideon and Magdelegna. I wasn’t sure if they would overcome themselves and allow love to blossom. Gideon being the oldest demon around is referred to as the Ancient. Magdelegna is only 250 years old, so she is considered very young. A child as far as Gideon is concerned and it will take a lot of work for him to finally start thinking of her any other way … regardless of what he feels. Magdelegna believes that Gideon is unfeeling, uncaring, and too detached to have real feelings about her.

I enjoyed that Jacquelyn Frank did not just decide that Gideon and Madgelegna should fall in love and throw them in bed together. Romance is something that is best savored over time.

Besides Gideon and Magdelegna trying to step carefully around each other, someone has brutally attacked Bella. This leads Gideon to speak with the vampire Prince Damien and the lycanthrope Queen Siena.

I enjoyed learning about vampires and the lycanthropes. I can’t wait to read more about them and their abilities! I have to wonder if Prince Damien and Queen Siena will find love amongst the Demons.

Although I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first, it was still a really good story. I enjoyed Xe Sands narration once again. Her voice is very pleasing and really draws you into the emotion of the moment.
