About this listen

Ever since she was a little girl, 30-year-old Rose dreamed of the day Harley would carry her across the threshold on their honeymoon. So what if this isn't her actual wedding day, and that she's only here because Harley was left at the altar just a few hours earlier?

Trading San Francisco for paradise and swapping her bridesmaid's bouquet for a Blue Hawaii, Rose hopes she can finally escape the friend zone.

Once upon a time they had been more than friends, but life got in the way. She's spent every day since wishing Harley would get a clue.

She's always been his best friend.

He's always been hers.

She's in love with him.

He's...not in love with her.

He's...marrying someone else.

He's...hiding something.

He's...well - it's complicated.

I spent the majority of the book thinking Harley didn't deserve Rose and wanted her to end up with Dermot. When Harleys secret was revealed I cried my eyes out again and again which I hate doing, I do wish Rose would have found her second chance happy ending with her son and Dermot, she deserved that and so did he.

tear jerker

This one needed one for those of us going through similar illnesses. I personally am experiencing liaising my husband and didn’t know this was going to bring up every dark feeling I had. I’m not blaming it on the author, but this needs to be categorized differently. Cancer and death isn’t a trope to just place in a totally fun best friend honeymoon book. It was written fine and enjoyable, but the timeline was kind of rough and the disease at the end felt just like a trick and not well planned. It was just not a great experience for me. Sorry.

Yeah...I’m not a fan of Trigger warnings, but...

I don’t even know where to start with this one. My heart is literally broken over this story. Looking for a tearjerker?? Well, you have come to the right place. This is one of the most heart shattering books I have ever listened to, and I have a 300+ book library. I seriously sobbed. Like “get angry with author” tears over this story. And now, after the ending, my heart and emotions are beat to hades, and the epilogue hardly even closed the wound. I feel kinda cheated with that ending, after all I had been through with this dang story! The story is truly fantastic and devastating. Find the tissues!

WRECKED!!🥲🥲

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little bit hard to follow in the beginning but picked up quickly. The narration was really good. I am going to look for more books from this author.

A wonderful story!

*spoiler warning*

This story is triggering. As a person who witnessed two family members succumb to cancer. This brought back traumatic memories. I felt like I was gasping for air; I broke down. I couldn't finish the book. Do not read this book if you have gone through trauma. It brought memories of one of the darkest times in my life. I wanted to drop everything and run. A little dramatic, but that’s what I wanted to do when my aunt (the person who basically raised me) passed away from cancer. Fuck you, cancer!

This story needs a trigger warning.
