Publisher's summary

The Dallas SWAT team of elite sharpshooters is ultrasecretive. This doesn't sit well with investigative journalist Mackenzie "Mac" Stone. They must be hiding something...and she's determined to find out what.

Keeping Mac at a distance proves impossible for SWAT team commander Gage Dixon. She's smart and sexy, and she makes him feel alive for the first time in years. But she's getting dangerously close to the truth - and perilously close to his heart....

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyed the premise.

Romances tend to be predictable because either they win or they lose - happy ending or bitter-sweet. It's the surrounding story that makes or breaks it.

The idea of a pack of wolves taking over the Dallas SWAT division can only make you feel secure and curious at the same time. I enjoyed the action, the word play and the characters. And I look forward to visiting this place again.

Refreshing Story

I love a good werewolf story. Paige Tyler's take on werewolves is refreshing. It's only a severe circumstance coupled with the werewolf gene that makes a person a werewolf. Most people do not know they are werewolf until they change into one.

I honestly thought Mac was going to turn into one, but she did not. That was a twist. I like the love story and the uncertainty of everything. The SWAT team get answers as they go along.

I do like the little suspense that is woven into the story. I wish it was more of a mystery. We pretty much know who the bad guy is. It is proving it that creates the suspense.

Awesome

BOOK REVIEW.......
I loved this book. This is the first book by this author that I've read and her writing just blew me away. The story and characters have such depth and vividness to them that they feel like real people. And whats more they feel like people you really would want to get to know in real life rather then just for entertainment purposes. I highly recommend this book.

NARRATOR REVIEW.......
The narrator did a really good job with bring the characters to life.

Great

Great story. I loved how this story unfolded. I do wish for more back story their type of wolves but I do love the protective alpha males. I’m glad the a**hole gene wasn’t so bad that couldn’t stand them, which does happen. Awesome book and I’m definitely listening to the next one!!!

an amazing werewolf adventure

in the past few years I have read a large number of books containing shifters or werewolves. this book was undoubtedly one of the best! I hope that each member of SWAT gets his own story.

Enjoyed the Story. Narrator was poorly chosen.

For a book with SO MANY male voices, the author should have paid extra for duet narration. The narrator REALLY struggled with male voices and really did sound like she had a frog in her throat. I pushed through and found the story enjoyable but as others stated, predictable. Not a bad listen for free audible escape. But, many potential readers won't listen all the way through because of the narrator. Also, the narrator made all "voices" VERY loud, but the actual reading of non-speaking parts was very soft spoken. made listening in the car a NIGHTMARE. Dear Author, please pay the extra for duet narration next time. you'll get a LOT more listeners and it will be far more professional. your characters are lovable and over time, i think your writing will improve and be less predictable. But narration alone can gain you a new audience. Trust me, duet narration is worth it. (not dual, duet). ESPECIALLY for books heavy on male voices.

Paige Tyler has become one of my favorite authors.

MacKenzie is a journalist looking for a story about the Dallas SWAT team. The team seems to be doing their job too well. Rumors are they use performance Inhansing drugs. She meets Gage, the leader of the team. They become smitten with each other, but Mac is still digging for the dirt. She talks Gage into letting her hang out at the SWAT headquarters positive she will discover her big story. Great world and character development. Exciting and not run of the mill story telling.

Original 2014 review -

First things first, I HONESTLY, I frigging L-O-V-E-D it!!

Secondly, I have to thank Paige Tyler (and her hubby) for a really original story idea and story. The originality, the way the story unfolds and is seen from multiple points of view is awesome. The characters are truly original in all aspects. Its a breath of fresh air, really. I am not new to the Paige Tyler fanwagon but I will say, the more I read the more I love her work. Each book, each series gets better and better. Paranormal is hard to pull off at times and make it something we haven’t seen before. So to have come across this series, and Paige’s work in general is a wonderful adventure.

**small spoiler alert**

In Hungry like a Wolf we meet the Dallas SWAT team. Gage Dixon, the lead Sargant and fifteen hunky, testosterone filled, greek gods that pack heat. (Dead.. I’m not into dudes and that is hot. Just Saying) We also Meet Mackenzie Stone, journalist for the Dallas Star. Mac, as she is called is an in depth, no holds bar kind of gal. Nothing frightens her away from a story. Good thing for the paper a bad thing for the Dallas SWAT team. Seems a source, a person taken down by the SWAT team during a hostage situation thinks they are juicing up. PED’s are bad news to anyone with a little muscle. They can make you jumpy and violent. So Mac sets out to see if steroids are their real weapon of choice.

This is a truly awesome story and I am very anxious for more of this series!

Very enjoyable start to the series :)

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked both Gage and Mac and their story was very good and engaging. This is the first book I've read by this author and I liked it well enough I'm likely to try more of her work in the future.

Mac is an investigative journalist. She's made a reputation for herself as being a straight shooter and someone that will do whatever it takes to bring in a story (just as long as it's true). Mac has been too busy with her work to have much a a personal life and her BFF is her camera man.

Gage is the leader of the SWAT team for the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He was turned into a werewolf while in the military and when he got out he decided to become a cop. When Gage took over the SWAT team he brought in cops that were also werewolves from all over so he could make his SWAT team the best in the country.

Gage has done an awesome job with his team and they're considered to be one of the best SWAT teams out there. They're also free of any taint of corruption and while that may make most people happy, Mac sees the SWAT team as almost too clean and perfect. She hears a story from an informant and her instinct is telling her something is up so Mac decides to go after the story no one thinks is there. Mac doesn't have much luck getting an interview, let alone more indepth info on the team, so she starts following them (aka stalking/lurking) around looking for a lead. At one point, Mac decides to try to sneak into a building where a hostage situation is going down (so she can watch the SWAT team in action) and she almost gets herself in trouble and has to be saved by one of the SWAT members.

Gage realized that he had a reporter nosing around but he didn't realize how much of an issue she'd be until he got a sniff of her. The attraction between Gage and Mac is strong and instantaneous on both sides and neither of them are prepared for it. Gage just wants to handle Mac and hopefully get her to not dig too deep into his team. Mac is friendly with Gage as a way to get a story at first but as she gets to spend some time with Gage and the team and soon realizes that she doesn't really want to write a tell-all story on them. Partially this is because the team is made up of good guys but Mac's quickly growing feelings for Gage make her even more reluctant to do something that mess up what's between them. Unfortunately, there are some difficulties and drama because of bad guys and good people that can be idiots (at least temporarily). Thankfully, these issues are surmounted and the story ends with Gage and Mac happily together and starting their HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Mac and I thought she was a really good heroine despite a big brain fart moment. Gage was a great hero...nuff said. I liked how the relationship had the whole "fated one" feel to it because the whole story takes place in a short timeframe so it really helped the insta-love work work for me. Overall, I liked the story very much and I had no major complaints about it. I'd recommend this story. :D
