Publisher's summary

“That girl has the defenses of a level twenty fighter in masterwork mithral armor. It’s not going to be easy.”

Dillon Strands’ has finally determined what he truly wants. Unfortunately, what he wants is a women riddled with issues brought on by a traumatic past, who is unwilling to accept the love he has to offer. He has no intention of letting that stand in his way.

Can he push past Suzie's barriers and finally capture her heart?

Author's note: This book is the fifth and final in a number of novella length serials, as such it is not intended to be listened to as a stand-alone book.

It was an emotional privilege.

It is a privilege to be the first Audible review of this book, at least it seems that way.

In essence, this isn't about the book, it's about the series as a whole because I don't think I have the ability just to keep it to this book.

I don't try new things often, including books. I like to keep to my old standbys because i know what to expect and it is comforting.

I told myself when Book 5 came out on audiobook, I would then start the series because I don't like reading. If i can't be physically comfortable with a book I can't enjoy the book. I was forced to follow through when the author promoted one free code for the first audiobook.

This isn't just erotic fiction. I don't expect erotic fiction to hit every single emotion I can think of.

(granted fear was more "You better not be doing what I think you're going to do Alexa... you better NOT do it... GDI Alexa" - say that out loud enough times, your roommates hope your "new Alexa" isn't going to screw with the internet.)

The 5 books show how a novella series works instead of it just being one book. If this was one book the constant up and down and up and down would start to kill you, but each book has it's own structure.... even if they do have cliffhanger. This allowed the story as a whole not to have any balance issues. All of those emotions are woven in a way not to overcharge any one emotion (except personally for me the awkwardness in book one during the first two chapters), so you were able to make sure to have the ups and downs along with sexy interludes.

Then there is Sharmila Devar.

The wonderful display of her voice pulling the emotion and forcing your ear to listen to it, causing it to sometimes skip your brain and go right to the heart. The series with her as the voice was a masterstroke. She was great at the vocal definition of the characters, both male and female that it allowed you to get immersed in the story. Sometimes an accent or a way a character speaks in an audiobook might sound jarring or a bit confusing, but she is an exemplar of her profession. She broke the mold and now when I listen to new audiobooks she's set the gold standard to what I expect.

I may actually buy other authors audiobooks because her name is on it as narrator.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to have to take a long cold shower after basically binge listening 5 books.
