About this listen

James

She was my sin and my temple. I both worshipped and defiled there. Gloried and desecrated. Revered and debased.

I've been remade four times in my life.

It is a distinct feeling. Impossible to mistake. The very marked sensation of being unraveled and reknit into a new thing, a new person. It can be good or bad, helpful or harmful, but above all, it is unstoppable.

I was remade when my parents died, went from a happy childhood into navigating a very dark world, with endless responsibilities, surrounded by enemies, and despairingly alone.

It happened again at the hands of a cowardly predator. I'd become angrier with that one, more cynical, and it undoubtedly turned me into the kinky f**k I was today.

The third happened swiftly. One day I looked up into a pair of pale blue eyes and saw the other half of my soul. Checkmate. I went from a completely controlled existence, a life where I made every decision with cold calculation, to a man overcome with feelings and emotions that were foreign but somehow wonderful.

And all too soon after that cataclysmic change was this fourth one, this one where I begged a God I'd never entertained to spare the life of a woman that I could not live without.

Mr. Beautiful is a continuation of the Up in the Air series, told from the male point of view, with POVs from James, Stephan, Tristan, Frankie, and Akira.

This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

Alas Mr. Beautiful's POV

I am an admitted sentimental mess. I have truly enjoyed the series. It was nice to not only get Mr. Beautiful's POV but to also get more. The present info and the future of the Beautiful family...

The epilogue made the book. Mr. Beautiful tells us what love is and it gave me tears and hopeless longing. It was absolutely the best, most romantic description I have ever heard. Too bad he's taken.

BTW, his and Tristan's conversations are so much fun!

Only issue with the audio was that in books 1-3 her best friends name was pronounced Stefan. In this book, it's pronounced Stephen.

Great ending to a series

The narrator in this story was great. His voice was strong and drew me in to the events. I didn't expect to learn what I did about Stephen based on the title of the book, so that was really great. I love the ending with his daughter. too cute.

His name is Stefan!!

I don't understood the point of book 4, you are just recapping scenes from the first 3 books in a different perspective, verily little new material. Seems like a desperate ploy to make more money on the same story, I loved this series until now.
Caracter names should remain the same in all books. Her friends name is Stefan in books 1-3 but book 4 you are calling him Steven, drove me nuts through the whole thing. This error should not have happened!! Great series otherwise!!

inconsistencies annoyed me

In the first 3 books of this series, the best friend of the female lead was read as Stefan, in this final book 4, with a new narrator, he was read as Steven. Love the narrators voice, expressive

3 stars

Not my favorite of the series. It was hard to follow at times especially when I stopped the book to pick up later. I would forget whose POV I was in. No real timeline that I could tell it just jumps randomly back and forth from past to present. I wish it would have been just told in James POV.

Like having all of the Disney characters together

This book is a bit of a hodgepodge of blended memories past-present and it got confusing at times with the way the stories were told (Mostly through James' perspective), but I would take it that way and another other way R.K. Lilley would choose to write it. Mainly, because this is a book written for the fans and, as a fan, it was not too difficult to keep up. I LOVE how James fell for Bianca…so thoroughly, so deeply, and so--yes--well, sexually. Their love affair was beautiful and let me say they have A LOT of sex…like A LOT…LOL. This book also shares their most tender moments. I didn't care for the flashbacks of James with other women in the sex club (Before Bianca), but hey, that's part of the story too (his sordid past). But, I adored the epilogue portion that also contained Tristan & Danika (that's all I will say so as to not give anything away).

It's kind of funny, but the way other characters from the "Up In the Air" series are combined in this story and it reminded me something like having all of the Disney characters together….

Even though Bianca and James' love story was compelling…HANDS DOWN--my favorite part of this book was the parts about Tristan and Danika. I can't even begin to describe how mesmerized Tristan and Danika's story has been for me personally. That couple's story has made an indelible mark on my heart--more than any other couple I have read in novels. Their love is full of heart ache, but in this book R.K. LIlley gives fans sheer pleasure (BUT NOT ENOUGH) with the added epilogue (through Tristan's perspective) and a taste of their GOLDEN YEARS. All I can say, is that I NEED more Tristan and Danika's golden year moments….PLEASE R.K. Lilley….write more about Tristan and Danika's golden year-moments in the books that follow…

Also, Heath and Lourdes book is going to be smokin' hot!!! When I think about Lourdes, I think about Sofia Vergara. I can't wait till their book is released in audio version.

Lastly, Jason Clarke's narration was sexy as hell. Beautiful narrator….perfect for the voice of Mr. Beautiful. The only note on my part is that Stephan is officially STEVEN…because the narrators from the books that followed the "Up in the Air" series--none of them pronounce his name they way it was originally introduced. Oh well…sorry Stephan…I mean Steven….LOL

Better than I anticipated, but...

What did you love best about Mr. Beautiful?

I really loved getting more of the back story of the main characters...especially of the early days of Stephan and Bianca.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stephan - I felt his pain and enjoyed experiencing the growth of his character.

What does Jason Clarke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed having the story read by a strong male voice - BUT - shame on everyone and anyone who didn't help him stay true to the characters...STEVEN??? Seriously??? His name is Stephan - pronounced Steff - ahn - and the fact that the producer didn't notice or didn't care that one of the main characters name was changed in this book just ticked me off every time the narrator said the name. It just seems like such a stupid oversight and when you have listeners who really love a character it's like a slap in the face!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bianca. We both loved her...we both needed her...we both protected her.

Any additional comments?

I have really enjoyed this series and have listened to the first 3 books several times. The one thing I thought was missing was some of the back story to round out character development and this 4th book gave me that. So...bravo to RK Lilley

It was good, but...

Too much jumping around. Too many character perspectives and too much jumping back and forth from present to past to future. It just got weird after a bit. Jarad's pov nearly did me in though. So sad. All in all, worth the credit.

Good additions

This book had some good additions. It does jump around a lot, so unless you're really familiar with all the previous story lines in all 3 series, there's a good chance you'll get lost. If you loved all 3 series then you'll probably find this worth your time.
